Has anyone noticed Twitch viewer counts dropping faster than before recently?

Lately I’ve been watching a few streams and the viewer numbers seem way more unstable than before. You can start with a decent count and within minutes it dips hard, even when the content hasn’t changed. It feels more aggressive than the usual refresh or delayed updates.

I’m wondering if they tweaked something in how they filter lurkers or inactive tabs. Could be bot sweeps, could be backend cleanup, or maybe stricter detection overall.

Anyone else seeing sharper drops compared to last year?

yeah noticed the same thing, especially in the last few months. pretty sure twitch updated how they count inactive tabs and background viewers. streams that relied on embed traffic or lurker bots are getting hit the hardest. if your viewers are mostly real and active you probably won't see much difference tho.

I’ve seen similar drops, but mostly on streams with low chat activity.
Makes me think engagement signals might weigh more now than just open tabs.

Yes I also perceived similar drops. It's probably a change of Twitch's algo regarding to engagement signals.

I've seen the similar thing, and I believe it's due to poor engagement from the audience.

Yeah, you’re not alone. It might just be platforms tightening how they handle inactive views or cleaning up background traffic, which can make numbers look more unstable.

yeah a lot of people are noticing it and its not just you because twitch cleaned up viewbots and fake lurkers recently so numbers look like they drop faster even though real viewers didnt disappear plus competition from youtube live and kick is spreading audience attention thinner so streams feel quieter unless you already have strong community retention
