How long did the marriage last? Did it end in good terms or do you hate each other? What is it you regret most?

Around 50% of married people, yes :D

If you are thinking of getting married and then worried about a divorce, save yourself the hassle and a fortune in legal fees...

Find a woman you DON'T like and buy her a house!

If you're asking because you're considering getting married, don't make that mistake

Where does this stat come from?

https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/divorce-rate-by-state
It's approximately 50% in the US and in Europe, not exact number of course but it's generally accepted that half marriage end in divorce.

I learnt something new today. These stats are very surprising to me.

In India it might be different, you will see a lot of different numbers though...

I have a friend who is psychologist and worked a lot in couple therapies and from what he said, it is the average number.

Good that you learnt something today :)

50℅ is a lot.
In India, it will not be more than 5℅ from what I have observed.

It is due to culture.

In India, marriage has not the same signification as us today.

Here it's more something to make things official and having advantages in household about the income that truly a VERY VERY important event...

The value of marriage has decreased a lot here.

Not for everyone of course, before someone jumps on me saying it's BS, but for most people, it's a little bit like that.

India has a stronger belief system when it comes to traditions. It's sacrilege to divorce (correct me if I am wrong).

Which explains the very loooooow percentage.

And it's a good thing according to me, here we lost a lot of traditional values.

Thankfully, nope. If you do get married though, get that prenup. The odds really aren't in our favor for us men, lol

This is really shocking. Looks like people are marrying just for financial help. Not saying that one should be in a relationship if they have issues but these numbers are way too much.

Yes, but you see clearly that traditional values are disappearing in Europe and US.

People are indeed looking at marriage for benefits in a financial way.

It is still about love and making things official but the problem is that here we change partners like we change underwears... it's a big problem in modern societies due to excess of freedom and individualism.

Get a pre-marriage agreement (unless she is rich ??)

Put your business in a Malta Foundation with your children as beneficiary

Create a situation where it is an advantage to be married to you and it is a
disadvantage for them to cheat on you or have something unfortunate happen
to you.

Make sure you have the same spiritual background.

Find a process that you ALWAYS FOLLOW whenever you get into an argument.
You WILL get into arguments. You must have a way to process the argument
and eliminate it. Both of you should learn Kinesiology (Muscle Testing), bio
feedback clearing, therapy... SOMETHING to get rid of the argument. If you
don't, your marriage is doomed in a few years because the arguments stack up
and the feelings get worse and worse and you eventually leave each other.

Understand that this is VITAL. You want a woman that feels she is an equal partner
in the relationship. Not a woman that feels she is a slave.

Women NEVER FORGET. They may appear to, BUT THEY DO NOT.

Women are survivalists. They are genetically programmed to protect their children.
When they are courting they will be totally dedicated to you. When they are married
they will be totally dedicated to you. They are like worker bees in a hive, always doing their
job.

When they have a child, they BECOME A QUEEN. Their brain is re-wired to be dedicated
to their children. You must be ready for that. Many men cannot handle it. They become
dedicated to protecting your children. If you don't adapt then you suffer the fate of the
drones in the hive during winter. They get expelled from the hive to die in the cold.

Don't let that happen to you.

If you want the best marriage then YOU MUST BECOME THE BEST PARTNER

I was married for just like 2-3 years. It ended in OK terms, at times we have hated each other and at times we were still best friends. When we got married, I felt like I was pushed into the marriage and could not have a real say in it. Overall the divorce was a great decision. Staying in a marriage where you are not happy and don't see a path to true happiness seems really bad for your life. We are only alive for short period of time, we need to enjoy it more even if it hurts the other partner in a marriage.

Don't worry, India will catch up, you are on the "right" path. I hope the quotes were not needed.
