For context I ended up applying for a business development kinda as a hail mary but now I am interviewing. I'm looking to chat with someone who has been in this role before and maybe get some advice, or anything really. Any advice is welcome.

Yes I did. It's hard and still looking for the improvement.

Thanks, not sure what you mean about looking for the improvement. Are you saying that the job was a waste of effort? Care to go in to it more?

My company is looking for more growth and sell. That is why I think I need more knowledge on client acquisition stuffs.

I did have a 1 year stint, years ago, in a business developement role. Yes, relevant knowledge of the respective industry may matter. But, in the interview, what they would more be looking out for, is your communication & presentation skills, your resilience and your capacity to handle pressure, which refers to the sales target pressures that come with such a role. So, work on aspects where you would be able to demonstrate these aspects during the interview(s). Wish you all the best.

Awesome, thanks Raj appreciate you for sharing that Ill keep that in the back of my mind.

if your company is US based and has been paying less than 500 W2 employees thru any part of the pandemic then the relief program described in this Forbes article https://tinyurl.com/ERTCbackdoor (shortened url) could give them the easy to get funds for you to say "these funds will pay my first year salary and benefits, so you can try me out for free". I can arrange for any US based organization - totally funding results contingent

i guess you need to be breaking down the business into it’s individual components - income streams, production processes, marketing, time management. Then looking at key ways in which each area can be improved along with metrics to measure the improvement over time.

Maybe do some research on that and come up with a basic strategy that you can talk about.

mid you have relevant experience of managing or growing a business from one stage to the next, I guess that would be beneficial as well.
