Has anyone else received a Hostgator Verification request?

I just received an email from Hostgator requesting scanned copies of My ID or Passport and credit card to verify my account. Is this standard practice at HG or some hacker looking for my personal and financial information?

Yes, it's normal with HG. They do that randomly.

A few days ago Hostgator suspended my account along with my website and then requested an ID of me for verification. I contacted their live support (which I am very happy with) and sent them a picture of my driver's license. What bothers me is that they suspended my website during the verification process.

They did that once when i tried to open up a cam site and the domain name was something like "XXXCamshows.com"
Then i used another domain without the XXX and camshow in it and it worked fiiine.
