Has anyone else noticed recent changes in the Instagram algorithm?

Yeah, I have noticed the same thing. Smaller pages seem to get pushed more if their engagement is strong, while bigger pages do not always reach their full audience. Feels like engagement and watch time matter more than just follower count right now.

Yeah, algo definitely shifted. It’s way less about follower count now and more about how each post performs.

Main thing is watch time + retention, then saves/shares. If those are strong, even small pages can blow up.

Big pages often struggle because their audience is less engaged, so posts die early.

In short: performance > size now.

it just seems totally random sometimes, about 8 of my accounts banned this week

Instagram now cares more about how people react to your content than how many followers you have. Watch time, shares, and saves are the biggest drivers of reach right now. That’s why small pages can blow up good content spreads, weak content doesn’t, regardless of size.

Instagram now prioritizes watch time and saves. Reels under 60 seconds with hooks perform best. Smaller pages grow because they engage genuinely.

Yeah, it does feel like reach is more inconsistent lately. From what I am seeing, engagement signals likes saves, shares, and watch time seem to matter more than just follower count now. Consistency also looks more important than ever, but the algorithm still feels a bit unpredictable.

Some smaller pages seem to be getting huge reach, while larger pages are struggling to even reach their own followers. It feels like something has definitely shifted.

I’m trying to figure out what Instagram is prioritizing right now — is it engagement rate, watch time, posting consistency, or something else entirely?
I think that Instagram now favors content based on engagement rate. If it is high the algorithm pushes the content more; gaining more reach wether it is a reel or a post. The reels work better though in terms of reach.
