When I see videos like this that focus on the fruits of success, I can almost hear people getting excited.
Believe me, there's a lot to be excited about.
Who wouldn't be excited about seeing somebody come from zero or absolute dogshit to making hundreds of millions of dollars?
We all love a great transformation story.
But here's the problem.
Too many people obsess about the fruits of success instead of the shape of the journey that took that person from there.
Most successful journeys do not involve rocket ships that go in a straight line.
I'm sure it happens from time to time but that is a rarity.
In many cases, those are exceptions.
For the most part, even Jeff Bezos is not immune to this.
Entrepreneurs have to go through lots of ups and downs as well as twists and turns.
In many cases, it takes just one lucky turn of events for that company to become an epic, legendary company like Amazon or just one of those millions of other establishments that could have made it, should have made it, or would have made it if circumstances were different.
We all like to celebrate success, but very few of us want to look at the twists and turns, the key decisions that were made, and the things that needed to happen to get to that success.
I think this is what people should focus on.
Anybody can dream big.
That's not the hard part.
Anybody could start.
What's important is what you do between starting and succeeding.
This is what separates the winners and the losers, and the vast majority are losers.
The vast majority give up, sell out, or stop going.
I know this first hand.
The key takeaway for videos like this and others related to it is to focus on the journey.
Be inspired by the people that made it.
Pay attention to their character traits that enable them to hang on when everybody else is saying, "Give up."
