Hard drive failing?

Hi,

My hard drive is failing the S.M.A.R.T tests and has 4 bad sectors on it.
It also gets very hot, so I purchased a new hard drive.

Can I just clone it directly across without problem? What about this smart test and the bad sectors?

Get a SATA to USB cable and try connecting it to your PC with the new HDD in. MAY be as easy as copy and pasting files if it loads up in your OS.

Yeah i have one of those, I believe i would have to clone it though to grab the OS ( I want to avoid having to partition and re-install windows and all my other softwares)
