Finished up my workday about three minutes before a lightning strike hit the electric box and fucked up the breakers on half the house. Sounded louder than a gunshot and just about gave me a heart attack (the office is on the other side of that window). Went out in the thunderstorm to make sure nothing was scorched or on fire, then flipped the breakers to get everything up and running. Sat around and wrote for a good 20 minutes until the thunder and lightning subsided and turned into a standard rainstorm.
Did a three mile run in the rain to pre-burn some cake calories. Got a message from Starbucks on my way back home that I have a free birthday drink. Headed down there and grabbed a quad espresso with heavy cream and Splenda and downed that real quick, then headed down the street and grabbed this beauty:
White chocolate, pineapple, and Grand Marnier. Now I've got coffeeshop jazz, a fireplace, and rain outside, and I'm settled in for a few hours of writing. It's been a good day.
