Half a million Mac computers 'infected with malware'

Hell yea, the only reason why MACs had less viruses before is that the people that make the viruses want to effect as many computers as possible and MACs were far less possible.

it wasn't the question of being "possible" or not, but the fact that very few people used macs, it could only result in a time waste, if the achievement and the awards were not rewarding enough.

Now that over the years the population of mac users shifted towards north, more and more hackers are joining the foot prints.

Malwares for macs been around since 2008, at least that's when I got on board (delphi) :D

I have a MAC, but I wonder how to make windows run in my MAC? can anyone help me, I had tried to do it myself once but it was a big fail. I have MAC OS X so if anyone can find me a easy step by step guide or site, I would really appreciate it :) thanks

try parallels or bootcamp, there are tons of tutorials on youtube. Just look for them.

He wasnt wrong it just wasnt really known, and the virus makers wouldnt want it to get out to quickly anyway because they would lose out quicker.

lmao Yes, he was wrong. Just because he didn't know he was wrong doesn't mean he wasn't wrong.

This is really priceless for someone that has always looked at all the mac hype with a lot of skepticism... Mac after the OS X switch from the "classic" os 9.2 on the ppc architecture has always been to me like a VERY (without any motivation) expensive *nix distro... on some VERY expensive glorified and locked down (without any motivation) NORMAL intel cpus. With all the copycat installations (same kernel, same x86 cpus, etc) and without the fragmentation linux guarantees (writing an exploit to target lots of different configurations is way more complicated if possible..) it was only a matter of time and it makes me laugh a bit... At least I'll admit macs are solid machines, way overpriced but solid and now very infected too.. lol :D

Also it makes me scratch my head on the horrible ignorance of the average consumers even if it's probably an essential factor of the IM world so, whatever, let em buy macs... MOAR $ for us :D

Well I have a mac and I was just hacked on my twitter and facebook account. Lost a fanpage with 500k likes. I don't know if it has anything to do with this though... If it does I will fucking kill apple.

lol, no.

Your twitter and fb accounts are online. Those are hackable on anything, even iPods and iPads.
What this article is talking about is the computers getting hacked. Meaning the hackers gained access to the entire computer, all the software and good stuff. :P

This is interesting i am currently on a mac and im virus free as far as i know lol..

I use both Macs and PC's with the Mac running VM Fusion with Win 7. Checked for the virus but came up clean. Not sure where all the hate comes from, both Mac and PC are just tools. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses. As Macs market share climbs, it will get more attention from virus developers, simple as that.

Guys! Install the update (read the article ^) now! I'm seeing more and more articles about this hack increasing and targeting Mac users who haven't installed the Apple security update.

For your computer's safety.
Cheers!

I worked at a AV company for a while and I know Apple was looking for better protection and approached a number of software companies. Nobody got into developing AV software for the Mac because of the smaller base plus Mac users weren't as schooled on using AV software. Hell I run Ubuntu and I know there is Linux malware as well, nothing is impervious to a determined hacker.

now watch a gold rush of mac viruses get released soon in the wild once the cat is out of the hat there is no turning back mac users it's time to get used to all the pains and sufferings that windows users have experience over the years sweet:D suckers it's y'all's time:D i hope hackers focus more now on the fresh meat aka mac and give us windows users a break lol
