Had some bad time with the damn Sitetide hosting :(

Hey there guys and gals, hope you are doing great. After a year+ being hosting my sites on their servers, found out all of a sudden that there's noone to see my tickets, noone to get in touch in the real world, and even worse, the UK gov has an Active proposal to strike off on them. Now i need to get my sh*t out of their server and move on. Just wanted to share this with you and find out if anyone else goes on the same boat as me, maybe we should move against them? Or it doesn't really matter? Would love to read your opinions on the topic

I don't have any experience with them, but had similar experience with few hosting providers.
You open a ticket and it just stay open forever with no answer.
I don't think that you will get anything from going against them except spending your time and energy.
You've already found where you will move your site to?
If you need a recommendation -
I've found that the most friendly host provider is site ground because of the easy way to chat with their support.

Use this experience as a lesson for the future. I dont know this hosting company but I guarantee you are not the only one wither with this hosting or other.

I always chat with support or email them before buying my hosting service and if I don't get a response in a timely manner, then you can already expect what would happen if your server is down and so on.

You see, i'm hosting my sites back from 2020 and i had no issues, we had contact through their tickets, chat and telegram too. Then all of a sudden on 2022 the guys vanished. And even worse, their business is going to shut by the gov, all this without any notice :/

I do it too. I do it with any product or service that I intend to buy online, including services on Fiverr.
 
The only thing you should be concerned about at the moment is your content (files, databases and emails). Try to do your best t get that. There is not a problem to change provider. Sometimes different situations happen and you need to be ready for that with your backup. Make sure you have your backup with third party providers and go ahead.

I never had to do this before in the past. Happily, long time ago i had to do some FTP transfers and CyberDuck kept my logins, so i downloaded every single file from the root, but since they didn't paid for the cPanel subscription i can't get access there and i can't download the databases :/ is this going to be an issue when i will try to re-host those sites?

If you are using wordpress, you can use those backup plugins which should also save the data in your database.
