I have officially had it with hostgator. crappy service and sites seem to be down every 10 minutes.

Where would you suggest hosting?

Also after having messed up some code It was a disaster for me to fix it, I need a better back up system

Is there something automatic that would do it? I always forget

I would recommend Hostwinds, been very happy with their hosting. Extremely helpful with any questions you might have, you could contact them first to get some reassurance, considering your negative experience with your previous host.

Wiredtree are as good as you gunna get. Support gets back to me in about 5 min no matter the time of the day and they will go to great lengths to help you in anyway with your hosting.

I wrote a bash script to run with Cygwin that would download the website and database using the backup links in cpanel.

Wow people still use Hostgator? At least you're leaving, they are an AWFUL service. They are piss slow and they will always tell you it's fine, and it's slow on your end.

Yeah for the price hostwinds should be given a shot, I haven't used them but you can't beat that.

I thinking bout moving one of my sites off hostgator shit takes forever to load..

will yours be faster

and I only have the complete backups will be easy to restore it just like it on hostgator and all i have to do is change my dns?

sorry if this seem like obvious answerable question but I never changed hosting out of fear of fucking something up

Stay away from Cirtex - sites go down for days at a time. Explanation is usually canned responses "tech's are working on. Will be back soon". Very unreliable in my experience.

I'd never recommend them!

I switched to Hostgator and not had any problems yet but you guys have me concerned now.

I use Hostwinds Reseller as a backup option and Hostgator for my main sites

If you're running WP sites, one of the best is bluehost. I have also had it with Hostgator as the reason for their shite service is the amount of overselling they do. I have a Hostgator reseller account and it's piss poor - they even ran a script on my server once and zero'd my htaccess files on all 30 wp sites! I managed to restore them all until some jock from Hostwanker decided to help me and messed up all the htaccess files again.

So people, it's a dedicated server for me from now on as I'm sure I'm losing Adsense revenue by their slow servers and shite service....out.

WTF! - if you read the thread it says he's fed up with Hostgator as it's shite. Moving to a faster, better and more responsible host will make him more money - that's what this thread is all about......doh!
