Hi all

Got a site which has been hacked, my outgoing links are highjacked into those spammy news advertorials.

Anyway, I want to now migrate around 100 pages, can't use a backup plugin because that may port over the scripts.

I made the noob mistake of dowloading a theme from a sharky site.

What's the best way for me to migrate the site to another server? I'm thinking of just copy pasting and redoing everything.

Thanks!

unless u can source the script/coding, ur a lil screwed, even with migration.
it may be possible that they were newbies and made a basic script thats easily found, or they were smart and have it migrate with every new link within the database.
the later means ur screwed. i would probably source out the coding before bothering to migrate and start everything again(depending on how many pages etc ur website has).
could jsut be a simple line to remove like astra theme did

Thanks for explaining.

My idea was to get a new wp installation and copy paste the entire site over and republish everything including all images and links.

Won't that work? Different theme and then switch DNS?

I guess if this isn't viable (not sure how it wouldn't be) I'll just have to hire someone off upwork to look into it.

1/ Why you dont clean your website ?
2/ You have no backup
3/ If you want to migrate yr site, you need to clean your db. Sure, Hijack go insert something

I know, I was hacked by Donatello

I think there is an option to reset your wordpress website to a backup of previous date.
you can do that to go back to where it was not hacked and then export and migrate.

If only if your hosting make backup regularly or if you make yourself a backup

Install wordfence plugin most of the times they dedect the files that are compromised

WordFence found them all - problem is - I can't repair because my server is not writeable.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in, I think I'll just get my VA to redo the entire site - it's less than 100 pages.

Clearly you dont want to start from scratch so i would enlist the help of a security expert who manually goes through your setup. Kind of like anti virus software but for websites
