    Hi,

My question is regarding the use of H1, H2, H3 ... Tags. Almost 80% of the websites for web design and seo services using H1, H2 tags and when I see the CSS file for those websites every site has H1 tags defined in CSS with font-size.

Is it kinda blackhat thing or is it ok to alter the size of H1 tags in CSS. Becuase if it illegal as per Search Engine Terms then almost every website is using this thing.

Please suggest what the actual thing is and is it fine to use the Header tags like this.

    Thanks
    Pearl

It's not a black or white hat thing, it's a design concept that search engine use.

What I do is make the title of the page a H1 and the menu H2.

reading your name seems kinda ironic especially when you asked about H1 tags which is one of the basics of elementary SEO

its not blackhat and to give you a straight answer, dont mind the H1, focus on your backlinking

H1 tags can help your page performance along with everything else.

You can also change the font size without diminishing the H1 tag regards.
