I am having a weird issue with GWT.
I have a site which is around 2 years old. I also have a domain that is around 12 years old. Last year due to a server misconfiguration, both sites were showing same content, i.e. the old site was also showing the content for the new site. Its been a year since I fixed the issue and the old site now shows its own content.
However, in my GWT for the new site, it still has hundreds of links from the old site (Via immediate link).
Even if I add new content to the old site, it shows up as a link to my new site.
I have checked everything from canonical tags, to redirects to DNS records. I have visited the old site, scanned the source code and found there's no link/mention of the new site.
When I do a "site: oldsite.com" it shows pages of the new site.
How is this even possible?
Is Google considering both sites as the same?
Anyone faced the same issue?
