In the documentary, the lower receiver and some magazines were all that they needed to print.
All the other parts could be purchased online without the restrictions you'd probably think they should have.
As it stands today, the printed lower receivers are very unreliable and are constantly breaking.

Bullets are still made of metal, and that's unlikely to change.
They can also 3d print human organs by laying down rows of cells, i think it takes them about a week to do. motley fool is advertising hard about 3 3d printing software companies that you should invest in because they hold the patents. in the future we will not need big manufacturing companies, 3d printing will allow people to simply order 1 item at a time rather than a factory needing to make bulk order of 100's of thousands. this is good especially with prototyping as you can make changes without the need for a new mold. you can also make more intricate parts than with a mold and is being used in the aerospace industry. in the future it will be 1. 3d printing software patent holders 2. big companies that print and send the items, and 3. designers who have the digital rights to the product designs. perhaps colored coins will be used to buy and sell the digital licenses?
