Gumroad just replied to me and said they cannot support my situation: Being a U.K Citizen, with an offshore LLC.

If I set my account country to U.K, I have to enter a U.K company number, and the settlement currency is GBP.

If I set my account to U.S, I can enter my U.S bank account, but I need to provide an SSN - which I don't have.

Is there a way around this? They say their banking partner is Stripe, and that's the reason they can't support my offshore situation... but the odd thing is, Stripe supports my setup just fine!

Gumroad is essential for what I am trying to do, as it's got all the product hosting features I need.

Is there a way to bypass this issue, and to have a U.S gumroad account, without SSN?

Thank you for your time :)

probably not legal, but see if you're name is in the social security death index. If so use that SS#. Government, etc. may not figure it out.

As a USA alien - not resident (aka living outside the USA) you don't have/need a SSN.

You need to obtain the EIN number for your LLC company. SSN is not required. Sometimes payment providers like PayPal ask about SSN. But I am sure that Stripe needs only EIN. I don't have experience with Gumroad.

EIN = Business (Corporation/ LLC / C-Corp / Partnership) = Business Account in the Name of the Business. And ITIN (foreigners, mainly) or SSN (US citizens) = Personal. Although within 12 mths a single-member LLC will need an ITIN as well, as "you = LLC" for your first tax return, even a zero tax return, still needs to be filed correctly.

Option start a UK LLP (Limited Liability Partnership) and bang that baby into Gumroad, get a Business wise account GBP16, and link to Business Stripe, I found a couple of companies they will give you office address / service address and of course form the LLP first year between: GBP90-GBP160, including services and formation. Of course, you already have an Offshore LLC so that could be one Partner at 1% and You are the second Senior Partner at 99%. Both "Members/Partners" need to be verified of course. There is no UK Tax to pay on net profits at all, as the HMCE assume both "Partners" file there respective shares of the profits as income in their respective tax domicles. Where if tax is due you of course will pay it.
So, now you have a legit UK trading Entity, as as long as annual net turnover/sales are under GBP85k you don't need to reg. for VAT. I am not an affiliate (with anybody...that's kind of the problem TBH) just researching my own set up for 2022. Hope this helps DM for exact info thanks.

You can take a look at fastspring and paddle. They're quite similar. Gumroad's got their own rules. They have different settlement options for different countries. Can you let us know what additional features are you getting with a US Gumroad account though?

Have you tried e-junkie? IMO they are way better than gumroad.

If I'm not wrong you have to link your own payment processor to sell with them though, right? With Gumroad you can accept at least card payments directly with them.

From what I understand, there’s usually no real workaround. If you set your account as U.S., Gumroad normally requires a U.S. tax ID like an SSN (or EIN/ITIN) because their payouts go through Stripe and they must complete identity verification (KYC).
Most non-US founders with a U.S. LLC either apply for an ITIN/EIN for tax reporting or set the account to their actual country of residence instead. Trying to bypass it usually ends up getting accounts flagged or suspended.
