I've been knee deep in the trenches for around 5 months now, since around November past - I've always sat on the sidelines watching these bullrun cycles pass by.. I decided to get involved this time round and I've done very well for myself. I've been in the crypto space though for longer than I care to talk about - think back to when BTC was at levels below $100, for example I was one of the first big DOGE hodlers with around 20 million coins at one point. I've worked with a lot of members here on BHW in the SEO space through old projects with ex members here on some of BHW's biggest services back in the day and eventually my own services which were small in comparison, but fruitful all the same. I used that experience and connections I made through those ex members from here I was close with introducing me to the right people in order to help countless crypto projects with their marketing, building relationships with sites like Binance, CMC and many others to provide press and exposure for solid projects - because at the heart of it I'm a marketer. This approach has served me well.. it has gained me insights and friendships with some top figures in the space now.

Those 5 months of diving into trading and building during this cycle might seem like a short space of time, however a day there can feel like a week. I was very fortunate to meet the right people quickly through contacts I'd already built up over years of marketing for that industry, leveraging that marketing experience and those networking skills I kind of hit the ground running, this is not the case for 99% of people.

A member https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/has-anyone-ever-created-coin-on-pumpfun.1698356 about creating a coin on pump.fun - firstly do NOT start launching coins until you know what you're actually doing and have all your ducks in a row. I https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/has-anyone-ever-created-coin-on-pumpfun.1698356/#post-19046002 with a brief outline, I seen the interest from his further questions and others in the thread so decided to expand on it. I'll also add that it's great to see a thriving crypto community here now, I got sucked into X in a big way this cycle so I wasn't checking here.. hadn't even crossed my mind to be honest. I came back here to work on some Blockchain, Web3 and Crypto projects in the near future.. so what a delight it was to see the crypto section seriously active now with some smart minds dropping knowledge, the section was dead last time I'd been here.

I am by no means an expert and would never claim to be, but I've been around some of the best and I'd like to think my 2 cents is worth a read. I've been involved in some major projects, some of my own.. but mostly helping others. I will not reveal or talk about any of my own projects, to do so would be stupid of me as anonymity has always been at the forefront of any personal launches. I will however use examples from one or two projects I've got massive exposure in, thus have good insights on. I do prefer to trade though and in the short time frame I've been trying my hand I've done OK..

This is just one of my current hot wallets and no I never share my addresses, I'm not a KOL that wants fame, copy traders on my back or the headaches that come with that. I know the deal here on BHW too, so for any doubters feel free to look me up on X, it's the same handle as here.. not hard to find, you'll see a lot of info on my timeline there about one of the coins I'll mention here "$Vine" as it's still one of my big holdings, but explaining it's back story would take another thread or two, quicker to look into it yourself.

The original question in the thread on Sunday was easy to answer: "It’s pretty straight forward , like a 12 year old could do it - some have and rugged it on live video lol." was my initital response. However there's a lot more to it than just clicking a few buttons.

Let me break down the entire process from start to finish, because launching is easy. It's what you do before and after will make or break your project. Also I need to be clear here, this guide is not about launching shitcoins.. I wouldn't waste my time, effort or money on that bullshit. It's basically gambling and why they call Solana and the memecoin scene in general "The Casino", you may as well bet on two snails racing down a garden path.

Let us begin..

Pre-Launch Phase: Setting the Foundation

Your Memecoin - What is your Coins Purpose?

Before you even think about launching, you need a solid concept. The most successful memecoins have 1 or more of these 3 elements:

  1. A genuinely funny or timely meme: This isn't just about slapping a dog face on a coin. The best memes tap into current cultural moments or create something genuinely original that makes people want to share it. Look at what's trending, what's making people laugh, and how you can put your own spin on it. Remember, if you're just copying what's already out there, you're already behind.
  2. A unique utility that solves an actual problem: Even memecoins can solve problems. Maybe your coin provides access to exclusive content, simplifies a complex process, or creates a new way for communities to interact. The key is identifying a genuine pain point in the crypto space that your project addresses in a way that feels natural, not forced.
  3. A strong cultural reference that resonates with crypto communities: Crypto has its own culture and inside jokes. Leveraging these effectively can create instant recognition and community. Whether it's a reference to a famous crypto personality, a nod to a significant event in crypto history, or playing on common themes in the space, cultural relevance matters.

Don't just launch another dog coin and expect magic. I've seen countless projects fail because they're just copying what's already out there. Think about what makes your coin different. Is it tied to a trending topic? Does it have a unique mechanism? Will it make people laugh or want to be part of something? Is it connected to dApp? The projects that stand out are the ones that bring something fresh to the table, even if it's just a new take on an existing idea.

Building Your Brand Identity

Once you have your concept, you need to create your brand:

  • Design a memorable logo (simple but distinctive): Your logo will be everywhere - on exchange listings, in wallets, on social media. It needs to look good at both large and small sizes. The best logos in the space are instantly recognizable even when tiny. Spend time on this - if you can't design it yourself, hire someone who can. A professional-looking logo separates the serious projects from the amateurs.
  • Create a catchy name (easy to remember, type, and say): Your name should roll off the tongue and be easy to search for. Avoid complicated spellings or names that are too similar to existing projects. Test your name with friends - if they can't remember it after hearing it once, it's probably not catchy enough. The best names also hint at what your project is about.
  • Develop a consistent visual style: This goes beyond just your logo. Your color scheme, typography, imagery style, and overall aesthetic should be consistent across all platforms. Create a simple brand guide that defines these elements so everything you put out looks cohesive. Consistency builds trust and recognition.
  • Write a concise, compelling narrative about your project: People connect with stories, not features. What's the story behind your memecoin? Why does it exist? What future are you trying to create? Your narrative should be something people can repeat to others in a sentence or two. If it takes a paragraph to explain what you're doing, simplify it.

I've found that coins with strong, simple branding tend to perform better. People need to "get it" in seconds. If you're explaining too much, you've already lost them. The most successful projects I've seen can be understood at a glance but have enough depth to keep people interested as they learn more.

Setting Up Security Measures

This is critical and where most new projects fail. You need to be clued in on these areas, launching is easy. It's what you do before and after will make or break it.

Before you're going to want to have your own buys set up properly to avoid snipers and other bad actors of which there is many on pumpfun and Solana as a whole unfortunately, because as soon as a coin goes live then those guys will have sniffed it out and will try to buy your project coins cheap within seconds using sniper bots, we want to try avoid this as best we can. Another thing I've found or a recurring observation I've noticed.. is if you wait around 5 minutes after launching on pumpfun and before you start sharing it with your community and begin to implement the next steps - just wait, most snipers will bail out of a coin within 5-10 minutes if they see no action.

Here's what you need to prepare:

Set up multiple wallets for different purposes (development, marketing, liquidity): Never use the same wallet for everything. Have dedicated Solana wallets for different functions - one for your personal holdings, one for development funds, one for marketing expenses and so on. This not only improves security but also makes it easier to track where funds are going. I will use my own sniper bot when launching a coin in order to get the buys I need for each wallet in fast before other snipers show up, a good bot will even have the ability to launch on pumpfun securing your dev wallet supply, whilst at the same time buying supply for your other wallets.
Plan your initial buys to establish a price floor: You'll need to make strategic purchases right after launch to establish a healthy price chart. Plan exactly how much SOL you'll invest, at what intervals, and from which wallets. Also, have friends or team members ready to make small purchases too, but coordinate the timing so it doesn't look shady - whales and experienced traders can spot this shit a mile off.
Have a clear tokenomics structure (how many tokens, distribution plan): Before launch, decide exactly how many tokens will exist (it's generally 1 Billion when launching a memecoin on pumpfun, but it doesn't have to be) and how they'll be distributed (team, marketing, community, etc.). Document this clearly so your community understands how tokens are allocated. Transparency here builds trust.

Consider implementing anti-bot measures if possible: Bots can ruin a launch by sniping tokens and dumping them quickly like I mentioned above. While pump.fun has some built-in protections (lol), consider additional measures like such as getting your sniper to work first.
Have a clear plan for your own holdings (what percentage you'll keep, what you'll use for marketing): Decide upfront what percentage of tokens the team will hold, and be transparent about it. Consider locking team tokens for a set period to show commitment. Plan how much you'll allocate to marketing, giveaways, and partnerships. Having this mapped out prevents impulsive decisions later.

I've seen projects get ruined in the first 10 minutes because they didn't plan this part properly. Don't be that project. The ones that succeed have thought through every aspect of their security and tokenomics before they ever hit the launch button. They know exactly what they'll do in various scenarios and have contingency plans ready.

Building Your Community Pre-Launch

Next you're going to need people interested in your project, building up a strong community of followers and showing them the project as it's being built and it's progress is essential, established people in the industry should be reached out to and asked if they'd like to test the product and review it for their audiences etc, the right KOLs can be crucial here.

Start building your community at least 2-3 weeks (the longer the better though) before launch:

- Create a Twitter/X account and start posting relevant content:
Don't just shill your upcoming project. Share insights about the broader crypto market, engage with other projects, post memes that align with your brand, and gradually introduce your project concept. Aim for at least 3-5 quality posts daily, mixing educational content, humor, and project updates. Engage genuinely with comments and build relationships with other accounts in your niche.

- Set up a Discord or Telegram group: Create a well-structured community space with clear channels, rules, and moderation. Don't just have a general chat - create specific areas for announcements, technical discussions, memes, and support. Actively moderate to keep out scammers and maintain a positive atmosphere. Consider having community events like AMAs or casual gaming sessions to build camaraderie.

- Create a simple website or landing page: Even a one-page site adds legitimacy, I'd shoot to make a full blown site though if you're serious about the project. Include your project concept, tokenomics, roadmap, team information (even if they're using anon handles), and links to social channels. Make sure it's mobile-friendly and loads quickly. A professional-looking site signals that you're serious about your project.

- Start teasing your project with countdown timers: Build anticipation with strategic teasers. Release small bits of information over time rather than all at once. Use countdown timers for reveals of key information like your logo, name, or launch date. This creates moments of excitement and gives people something to look forward to. Hype is the name of the game here.

- Share "behind the scenes" of your development process: As humans we love feeling special or like insiders. Share screenshots of your work in progress, discuss challenges you're facing, and celebrate small victories. This not only builds interest but also shows that real work is happening. It humanizes your project and builds emotional investment from your community - your community is your biggest tool, you'll be sick of me mentioning this.

I had one guy before contact me because he seen my projects potential, so much so that he reached out to me and all he wanted was the ECA (early contract address) to push it - the dude was hardcore, I started to see HUGE KOL accounts begin to follow the project all of a sudden daily.. it was him, he wasn't lying when he said he had serious pull. That's the kind of enthusiasm you want to generate. When people are volunteering to help because they believe in what you're building, you know you're on the right track. These early believers often become your most valuable community members and advocates as he more than proved himself to be.

Connecting with Influencers and Experts

Then I would send it to large TeleGram Group owners that are interested in your project or you have a solid connection with, shortly after I'll present it to the projects community which you should have built up on X and have been keeping them updated on the projects progress for launch beforehand.

Here's how to approach influencers effectively:

Research who's relevant in your specific niche:
Don't just target any crypto influencer. Find ones who specifically talk about Solana, memecoins, new launches, or the specific utility your project offers. Look at who they've promoted before, how they talk about projects, and what their audience engagement is like. The right influencer with 5,000 followers can be more valuable than the wrong one with 50,000.

Don't just go for the biggest names - mid-tier influencers often have more engaged audiences: Mega-influencers are expensive and their audiences are often saturated with project promotions. Mid-tier influencers (5,000-20,000 followers) typically have more engaged communities and more reasonable rates. They're also more likely to genuinely care about your project rather than just taking payment for a quick mention.

Prepare a concise pitch that explains why your project is worth their time: Influencers receive dozens of project pitches daily. Make yours stand out by being concise, specific about what makes your project unique, and clear about what you're asking for. Personalize each pitch - mention why you think their specific audience would be interested in your project.

Offer them something valuable (early access, exclusive info, or yes, sometimes compensation - some charge a small fortune): Be prepared to offer value. This might be early access to your platform or the ECA (early contract address), exclusive information they can share first, a special role in your community, or financial compensation. Be transparent about what you're offering and ALSO what you expect in return. The best relationships are mutually beneficial, not just transactional.

Be transparent about your project's goals and timeline: Don't oversell or make promises you can't keep. Be honest about where you are in development, what your realistic goals are, and what your timeline looks like. Serious influencers appreciate honesty and are more likely to work with projects that have realistic expectations.

With a good project it will attract people itself in terms of gaining followers on X aka CT (crypto twitter) and that's where it's at, so build your followering on X and drive your marketing efforts there, if you get enough KOLs following you and interested in the project you're off to a solid start. The crypto community can smell authenticity - if you're building something worthwhile and engaging genuinely, the right people will notice and want to be involved, just like the example of that guy that reached out to me... I didn't need to do anything, he seen the project potential and the vision behind it.

Creating a Roadmap and Whitepaper

Even for a memecoin, having some documentation helps establish credibility. This is one of the most critical aspects of your pre-launch preparation and deserves special attention.

Developing a Comprehensive Roadmap

A roadmap isn't just a timeline - it's a strategic vision document that shows you've thought through your project's evolution:

Start with realistic short-term milestones: Your first roadmap phase should cover the first 1-3 months and include achievable goals like community building, initial marketing campaigns, and basic platform development. These early wins build confidence and momentum.

Structure your roadmap in clear phases: Organize your roadmap into distinct phases (Phase 1, 2, 3, etc.) or time periods (Q1, Q2, etc.). Each phase should have a theme or focus, like "Community Building" or "Utility Development."

Include both technical and community milestones: Don't just focus on technical development. Include community growth targets, marketing initiatives, partnership goals, and governance implementation. A balanced roadmap shows you understand all aspects of project development.

Be specific but flexible: Each milestone should be specific enough to be measurable ("Launch staking platform" rather than "Improve tokenomics"), but your overall roadmap should have flexibility built in. The crypto landscape changes rapidly, and you'll need to be able to adapt with it.

Visualize your roadmap attractively: Create a visually appealing roadmap graphic that can be shared on social media and your website. Use your brand colors and design elements to make it consistent with your overall branding.

Include community-driven decision points: Show where community input will shape the project's direction. This might be through governance votes, community feedback periods, or specific decision points where holders can influence development priorities.

Don't overpromise: It's better to under-promise and over-deliver. Set achievable goals that you're confident you can meet or exceed. Nothing kills a project faster than missed roadmap deadlines.

Update your roadmap regularly: As your project evolves, so should your roadmap. Plan to revisit and update it quarterly, being transparent about any changes and the reasons behind them.

Creating an Effective Whitepaper

Your whitepaper doesn't need to be 50 pages of technical mumbo jumbo, but it should clearly communicate your project's purpose and plans:

Start with a compelling executive summary: Many people will only read this section, so make it count! Summarize your project's purpose, unique value proposition, and key features in a way that generates interest.

Explain your project's purpose and problem statement: Clearly explain what problem your project solves or what opportunity it addresses. Even memecoins should have a purpose beyond "making money" - perhaps it's building a specific community or bringing humor to a particular niche, perhaps it's going to be used as a utility coin within a dApp or similar project.

Detail your tokenomics thoroughly: This is critical information that serious investors (the ones we want) will scrutinize. Include total supply, distribution (team, marketing, community, etc.), and how the token derives value. Use charts and graphics to make this information easily digestible.

Outline your technical architecture: Even if your project is relatively simple, explain how it works technically. For a memecoin on pump.fun, this might include explaining the bonding curve mechanism, how transactions are processed on Solana, and any special features of your token.

Include team information: Even if your team is anonymous (using handles), include information about team members' backgrounds and relevant experience. This builds credibility and shows there are real people behind the project.

Address potential challenges and risks: No project is without risks. Acknowledging potential challenges and explaining how you plan to address them shows maturity and foresight. This transparency builds trust with your community.

Incorporate professional design elements: Your whitepaper should reflect your brand identity with consistent use of colors, fonts, and design elements. A professionally designed document signals that you take your project seriously.

Have it reviewed for clarity and errors: Before publishing, have several people review your whitepaper for clarity, technical accuracy, and grammatical errors. Consider having someone outside the crypto space read it (one of your normie mates) to ensure it's understandable to newcomers.

I've found that projects with clear documentation tend to attract more serious investors alongside the typical memecoin crowd. A well-crafted roadmap and whitepaper demonstrate that you're thinking long-term and have a vision beyond just the initial hype. They serve as reference points that your community will hold you accountable to, so make sure they accurately reflect what you CAN and intend to deliver.

Launch Phase: The Technical Process

Understanding pump.fun Mechanics

The actual process on pump.fun is straightforward:

1. Connect your Solana wallet to pump.fun
2. Click "start a new coin"
3. Enter your token details (name, symbol)
4. Set your initial parameters
5. Launch the token

The platform uses a bonding curve mechanism, which means the price increases as more people buy. This creates an automatic market maker that allows trading without traditional liquidity pools as pumpfun does it for you. The bonding curve is a mathematical formula that determines the price of tokens based on the supply - as more tokens are purchased, the price increases according to this curve. This means early buyers get in at lower prices, creating an incentive for early adoption. When you hit 99% the coin will migrate over to Raydium.

Understanding how the bonding curve works is essential for planning your launch strategy. The curve means that large buys will significantly impact the price and potential to migrate, so coordinating your initial purchases to create a healthy-looking chart is crucial. It also means that if someone makes a large sell, the price will drop accordingly, which is why having committed holders in the early stages is important aka YOUR COMMUNITY you should have already built up.

Timing Your Launch

When all this is done, you need good volume and the people that are interested (as well as using volume bots initially) in the projects development will help with that.

Timing is everything in crypto. Consider these factors:

  • Launch during active market hours (typically when US and European markets overlap): The ideal window is often between 12-4 PM EST, when both American and European traders are active. This maximizes your potential audience and ensures good initial liquidity and trading volume. Avoid late night launches unless your primary audience is in Asia.

  • Avoid launching during major crypto events unless your coin is related: If a major conference, token launch, or protocol upgrade is happening, your launch might get lost in the noise. Check crypto event calendars and plan accordingly. The exception is if your memecoin directly relates to the event, in which case you might benefit from the attention. We all seen what happened with TRUMP, MELANIA and others sucking liquidity right out of the market earlier in this cycle, right? Be careful and mindful of this.

  • Have your community ready and alerted about the exact launch time: Prepare your community well in advance. Send multiple reminders at 24 hours, 12 hours, and 1 hour before launch. Create countdown graphics and have moderators in your community channels to answer last-minute questions. Consider creating a simple guide for how to participate in the launch.

  • Consider the overall market sentiment (launching during a bull market phase is ideal): The broader market context matters enormously. A great project launching during a market-wide crash will struggle regardless of its merits. Monitor Bitcoin, Solana, and the overall crypto market sentiment indicators. If possible, time your launch during periods of positive momentum.

I've seen great projects fail simply because they launched during a market crash or when everyone was distracted by a major announcement (TRUMP and MELANIA killed a few that week). One project I worked with delayed their launch by two weeks because of poor market conditions, and that decision likely saved the project. Patience with timing can be the difference between success and failure.

The Initial Buy Strategy

Combine all that together with a solid project and it doesn't take much to "bond" the pump.fun, how you do after bonding through that will require further work.

Your initial buys set the tone for the entire project:

- Have a plan for how much you'll invest initially: Decide on your total initial investment budget and how it will be allocated across different wallets and time periods. This should be money you can afford to have locked in the project long-term. The amount needed varies based on your goals, but having at least a few SOL equivalent ready for initial buys is typically necessary for a serious launch.

- Stagger your buys to create a natural-looking price chart: Don't make one massive purchase right at launch. Instead, spread your buys over the first few hours with varying amounts. For example, you might make a moderate initial buy, followed by several smaller purchases (obviously these buys are not from your dev or team wallets etc), and then another moderate buy a few hours later. This creates a healthier-looking chart than a single vertical spike.

- Have trusted community members ready to make small purchases: Coordinate with a small group of trusted supporters who are willing to make modest purchases after launch. Stagger these purchases so they don't all happen simultaneously. This creates organic-looking volume and price action. Make sure these people understand they should hold their positions for at least a few days.

- Don't pump the price too high too quickly - sustainable growth is better: It's tempting to push for a massive initial pump, but this often leads to an equally massive dump when early buyers take profits. Aim for steady, sustainable growth instead. A project that doubles in the first day and maintains that level is healthier than one that goes 10x and then crashes back down - which has been all too common at the start of this "bull run" cycle as anyone in the trenches will tell you, it's starting to change now thankfully.

- Monitor the chart closely for the first 24 hours and be ready to support if needed: Have team members assigned to watch the chart and community sentiment around the clock for the first day, some devs won't sleep for 24-48 hours for real. Be prepared to make supporting purchases if the price dips sharply or to engage with the community if concerns arise. The first 24 hours set the narrative for your project, so they require constant attention.

I've found that projects that grow steadily in the first 24 hours tend to perform better long-term than those that spike dramatically and then crash.

Post-Launch Phase: Building Momentum

Immediate Post-Launch Activities

A big thing right now is running a Live Spaces soon after the launch, people like to talk properly with project managers and developers.

In the first 24-48 hours after launch:

Host a Twitter/X Spaces to discuss the successful launch: This is a HUGE deal right now. Schedule this within 12-24 hours of launch. Prepare talking points about initial success metrics, upcoming plans, and community highlights. Have multiple team members participate to show depth. Allow plenty of time for community questions and make sure to record the session for those who couldn't attend live. These Spaces sessions build credibility and give your community direct access to the team.

Release a post-launch announcement with next steps: Create a comprehensive update that celebrates the launch success (with specific metrics), thanks the community, and clearly outlines what's coming next. Include screenshots of the chart, community growth numbers, and any notable supporters or mentions on X or any press. This sets expectations and maintains momentum.

Engage actively with your community: Have team members present in your Discord, Telegram, and X 24/7 during this critical period. Answer questions quickly, address concerns transparently, and celebrate wins together. Create dedicated threads for different topics to keep discussions organized. The energy and responsiveness of your team during this period sets the tone for community expectations.

Monitor and respond to questions across all platforms: Set up alerts for mentions of your project across social media, forums like Reddit and f0ur chan, and crypto news sites. Respond quickly to misinformation and highlight positive mentions. Consider creating an FAQ document that's continuously updated based on common questions you're seeing.

Share the initial trading data and milestones reached: Create graphics highlighting key metrics like trading volume, holder count, market cap milestones, and community growth. Share these regularly to demonstrate momentum. Compare your performance to other recent launches to provide context. Data-driven updates build confidence in where your project's headed.

The energy you bring in this phase is crucial. I've seen projects die simply because the team disappeared after launch. One project (WOF) I was invested in just last week had team members working in shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage of all community channels for the 48 hours, I don't think the dev slept at all. This level of engagement prevented FUD from taking hold and built tremendous community loyalty that sustained them through later challenges. They actually launched another project yesterday but I didn't get involved this time.

Building Utility and Value

Other things like a good working product already shipped to market are a major plus.. there is nothing worse than a nothing burger full of promises but nothing to show on the launch of their coin. Is the projects coin going to be used as a utility coin within the projects ecosystem? Then the ecosystem should already be there!

Even for a memecoin, having some utility helps with longevity. This is where many memecoins fail - they launch with hype but have no reason to exist long-term. Here's how to build real utility and value:

Creating Functional Utility

- Integrate your token into a simple game or app:
Games are powerful engagement tools that give your token a reason to exist. This doesn't need to be complex - even a simple browser game where players can earn or spend your token creates utility. Consider games like:

- Prediction markets for crypto prices or events
- Collectible card games where cards are purchased with your token
- Simple skill games with token rewards for high scores
- Social games that encourage community interaction

Development can be outsourced if your team lacks the skills, but make sure you maintain control of the project direction.

- Consider creating NFTs that can be purchased with your token: NFTs create collector value and additional utility. Create limited edition collections that can only be purchased with your token, driving demand. These might be:

- Profile pictures for social media
- Access passes to exclusive community areas
- Collectible items with rarity tiers
- Digital art from known artists in the space

Make sure your NFTs have their own utility beyond just being collectibles - perhaps they provide governance weight, staking bonuses, or access to special features.

- Build simple tools that utilize your token: Useful tools that incorporate your token create everyday utility. Consider developing:

- Portfolio trackers specific to your ecosystem
- Price alert tools
- Trading bots or strategies
- Educational resources gated by token holdings
- Community contribution platforms where work is rewarded with tokens

These tools should solve real problems for your community while incorporating your token in a natural way for utility.

Creating Social and Community Utility

Beyond functional utility, social utility is equally important for memecoins:

- Develop an identity and culture around your token: The strongest memecoins become identity tokens - holding them signals membership in a community with shared values and inside jokes. Nurture this by:

- Creating unique terminology and memes specific to your community
- Developing community traditions and regular events
- Recognizing and celebrating community members who embody your values
- Creating merchandise that holders are proud to wear

- Implement community governance mechanisms: Give your community a voice in project decisions through:

- Regular proposal and voting systems
- Community treasury management
- Delegated decision-making for different aspects of the project
- Transparent feedback loops where community input is visibly incorporated

Start with simple votes/polls on non-critical issues and gradually increase the scope of community governance as your processes mature.

- Create exclusive experiences for holders: Provide special access and experiences based on token holdings:

- Private AMAs with team members or crypto personalities
- Exclusive Discord channels or Telegram groups
- Early access to new features or products
- In-person meetups at crypto conferences
- Special roles and recognition in the community

- Build educational resources around your project's niche: Position your project as a knowledge hub by:

- Creating guides and tutorials related to your project's focus
- Hosting educational Twitter Spaces or Discord calls
- Developing a knowledge base that grows over time
- Rewarding community members who contribute educational content

Long-term Value Creation

For sustainable value, think beyond immediate utility:

- Develop a multi-year vision for ecosystem expansion: Map out how your project will evolve over 2-3 years, with each phase building on previous achievements. This might include:

- Expansion to multiple platforms within the Solana ecosystem
- Development of a dedicated platform or application
- Creation of a suite of interconnected products
- Evolution into a full protocol or platform for other projects

- Create a sustainable tokenomics model: Design mechanisms that support long-term value:

- Deflationary mechanisms that reduce supply over time
- Utility that scales with adoption, creating positive feedback loops
- Incentive structures that reward long-term alignment over short-term gains

- Build relationships with traditional businesses: Look beyond crypto for partnerships:

- Local businesses that might accept your token
- Online merchants who could integrate your payment system
- Content creators who might offer exclusive content for token holders
- Brands that align with your community values

I've seen memecoins transform into legitimate projects by gradually adding utility that makes sense for their community, DOGE is a prime example of this. There is one well known project that started as a pure meme (not DOGE, much more recent) but evolved to include a prediction market platform, staking system, and eventually its own launchpad for other projects (can any crypto vets here guess which coin I'm talking about?). Each addition was aligned with their community interests and built on previous features, creating an expanding ecosystem that gave the token lasting value beyond its meme origins.

Tokenomics Management

Will your team burn a portion of your own holdings or lock them away for x amount of months - this shows commitment and shows it's a serious project you're passionate about and not going to drop.

How you handle your token supply affects market perception:

  • Implement vesting periods for dev tokens: Lock dev tokens in a transparent, verifiable way using time-based releases. A typical vesting schedule might release dev tokens over 12-24 months, with a 3-6 month initial cliff period where no tokens are released. This demonstrates long-term commitment and alleviates concerns about team members dumping tokens. Share the vesting details so the community can verify it themselves.

  • Be transparent about any large transactions**: Before any significant team transaction (buying or selling), communicate the reason and timing to your community. If team members need to sell some tokens, explain why and how it's being done to minimize market impact. Consider using OTC (over-the-counter) deals for large sales to prevent negative chart impact. Transparency about transactions builds trust even when the actions might temporarily impact price.

  • Create incentives for long-term holding**: Implement mechanisms that reward holders who don't sell during volatility. This might include staking rewards that increase over time, governance rights that are weighted by holding duration, or special NFT drops for addresses that haven't sold for certain periods. These incentives align community interests with long-term project success rather than short-term price action.

Projects that handle their tokenomics thoughtfully tend to build more trust with their communities. I've worked with projects that implemented scheduled burns based on transaction volume, creating a deflationary mechanism that everyone understood and anticipated, that's another idea I didn't mention above. This predictability helped stabilize the project during market downturns because holders knew the tokenomics were designed for long-term value accrual.

Continuous Development and Updates

Making regular upgrades to your product and announcing the progress of them, partnerships with establish brands… and much more will determine whether it makes it or flops.

Keep the momentum going with:

Regular development updates (even small ones): Establish a consistent schedule for development updates - weekly or bi-weekly works well. Even if progress seems minor to you, sharing it maintains community engagement and shows active development. Include screenshots, short videos, or GIFs of works in progress. Be honest about challenges and how you're addressing them. These updates should be technical enough to satisfy developers in your community but explained clearly enough for non-technical members to understand the significance.

New features or utilities added over time: Plan your feature releases strategically to maintain momentum. Space them out rather than releasing everything at once. For each new feature, create a mini-marketing campaign with teasers, educational content about how to use it, and community events centered around it. Consider beta testing programs where community members can try features before full release, creating both valuable feedback and community engagement.

Community governance mechanisms: Gradually introduce governance elements that give your community ownership over project decisions. Start with simple polls on non-critical issues, then progress to more significant decisions as your governance processes mature. Create clear documentation on how proposals can be submitted, discussed, and voted on. Celebrate community-driven decisions and give credit to community members who contribute valuable ideas.

Partnerships announcements: Approach partnerships strategically, focusing on quality over quantity. For each partnership, create joint announcements that explain the specific benefits for both communities. Host joint Twitter Spaces or AMAs to introduce communities to each other. Create special content or promotions around partnerships to drive engagement. Follow up with updates on how the partnership is developing over time.

Ecosystem expansion plans: As your project matures, share your vision for expanding beyond the initial concept. This might include additional products or services, or evolution into a platform that others can build on. Create roadmaps specifically for ecosystem expansion that show how each element connects to your core project. These larger visions help maintain excitement even after the initial launch hype has faded.

I've found that the most successful projects are those that keep building regardless of market conditions. One project I secured some press for, I noticed their aggressive development and continued marketing (hence the press from me) through an extended bear market, releasing new features every month even as prices declined. When the market eventually turned, they had built such a substantial product that they outperformed almost all their competitors who had slowed development during the downturn.

Marketing and Visibility

You can also buy ads, boosts and other things on dexscreener and other platforms, again even with them the project needs to be solid.

Ongoing marketing is essential:

- Get listed on tracking sites like CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap: These listings provide legitimacy and visibility. Prepare comprehensive applications that include all required information about your project, team, and tokenomics. Follow up politely if your application isn't approved quickly. Once listed, make sure all information is accurate and updated regularly. These listings significantly increase your visibility to potential investors who use these platforms to discover new projects.

- Purchase ads on DexScreener and similar platforms: Strategic advertising on platforms where crypto traders already spend time can be highly effective. Budget for ongoing ad campaigns rather than one-off promotions. Test different creatives and messages to see what drives the best engagement. Target platforms that are popular with your specific audience segment - DexScreener for active traders, crypto news sites for more mainstream investors, or niche communities for specialized projects.

- Maintain an active social media presence: Consistency is key for social media success. Develop a content calendar with different types of posts - educational content, project updates, memes, community highlights, and industry commentary. Aim for at least 3-5 quality posts daily on Twitter/X, regular updates on Telegram or Discord, and weekly longer-form content on Medium or your website's blog. Engage authentically with comments and mentions rather than just broadcasting information.

- Create educational content about your project: Education drives adoption. Develop comprehensive guides, tutorials, explainer videos, and FAQs about your project. Make these accessible to both crypto natives and newcomers. Consider creating a YouTube channel with regular content about your project and the broader ecosystem it exists in. Educational content has a longer shelf life than announcements and helps reduce support questions while building credibility.

- Consider AMA sessions with crypto communities: AMAs (Ask Me Anything) in established crypto communities can introduce your project to new audiences. Prepare thoroughly with anticipated questions and concise, compelling answers. Have multiple team members participate to show depth. Follow up after AMAs with a summary of key points and additional resources for interested community members. Build relationships with community moderators for potential future collaborations.

Marketing without substance doesn't work long-term. The project needs to be good for marketing to be effective. I've seen countless projects spend enormous sums on marketing only to fail because the underlying product wasn't compelling. On the other hand, I've seen projects with modest marketing budgets succeed because they built something people genuinely wanted and focused their marketing on clearly communicating that value.

Advanced Strategies for Long-Term Success

Community Building and Management

Your community is your most valuable asset (I TOLD YOU):

  • Create incentives for community contributions: Establish programs that reward community members for valuable contributions like creating content, answering support questions, translating materials, or developing tools. These might include token rewards, special roles, or recognition programs. Document these programs clearly so anyone can participate. Regularly highlight outstanding contributors to show that participation is valued and rewarded.

  • Recognize and reward active members: Implement a system to identify and appreciate your most engaged community members. This might include special Discord roles, exclusive access to team calls, opportunities to beta test new features, or community spotlight features. Personal recognition from team leaders goes a long way - consider having founders or core team members personally thank key community members occasionally.

  • Implement a community governance system: Give your community real ownership through governance mechanisms. Start with advisory voting on smaller decisions, then gradually increase the scope of community governance as processes mature. Create clear documentation on how proposals can be submitted, discussed, and implemented. Be transparent about which decisions are community-governed and which remain with the core team.

  • Host regular events and competitions: Keep your community engaged with varied activities like trading competitions, content creation contests, meme competitions, trivia events, or prediction games. Rotate different types of events to appeal to different segments of your community. Allocate a specific budget for community events and prizes to ensure they can happen regardless of market conditions.

  • Be present and accessible to your community: Nothing builds loyalty like accessibility. Have team members regularly participate in community discussions, not just to make announcements. Consider regular "office hours" where team members are available for casual conversation. Respond to community concerns promptly and honestly, even when the news isn't positive. The trust built through consistent presence is invaluable during challenging times.

You'll often see projects with mediocre technology thrive because they built incredible communities, and brilliant projects fail because they neglected community building.

Navigating Market Volatility

Crypto markets are volatile, and your response matters:

Have a plan for both bull and bear markets: Develop different strategies for different market conditions. In bull markets, focus on growth, partnerships, and maximum visibility. In bear markets, focus on development, community building, and efficiency. Document these strategies so you can pivot quickly when market conditions change. Communicate these different approaches to your community so they understand your strategic thinking.

Don't panic during downturns - use them for building: Market downturns are inevitable in crypto. Use these quieter periods to focus on development, refine your product, improve documentation, and strengthen your core community. Maintain regular communications even when the news cycle is negative. Projects that continue building during bear markets emerge much stronger when sentiment improves.

Avoid making promises about price action: Never guarantee returns or make specific price predictions. Focus communications on development progress, adoption metrics, and utility improvements rather than price movement. When community members ask about price, redirect the conversation to the fundamental value being built. This approach builds credibility and attracts more serious, long-term community members.

Focus on development during quiet periods: When hype and attention are low, double down on building. Accelerate your development roadmap, improve existing features based on user feedback, and prepare major updates for when market sentiment improves. Document this progress thoroughly so you can demonstrate continuous improvement when attention returns to the space.

Be ready to capitalize on market upswings with prepared announcements: Prepare marketing materials, partnership announcements, and feature releases that can be deployed quickly when market sentiment improves. Having a "ready to go" pipeline of positive news allows you to maximize impact during favorable market conditions. Coordinate with partners in advance so you can move quickly when opportunities arise.

The projects that survive multiple market cycles are those that keep building regardless of price action. I've worked with teams that maintained the same development pace through an 18-month bear market, continuously improving their product even as their token price declined by 90%. When the market eventually turned, they had such a substantial lead on competitors that their recovery was dramatic and sustainable.

More recently I've seen this with a coin I'm heavily invested in and which I've already made substantial returns from - "https://whsprs.ai/"... these guys hit the ground running, MC shot right up and then along came the liquidity drainage after drainage after drainage with the likes of TRUMP, MELANIA and many other Shiny New Coins popping up leading to hodlers jumping ship. Does that stop them? Fuck no, their dev team are one of the most active I've ever seen and their dApp is epic, slick and will explode out of nowhere one of these days and shock everyone that jumped ship.

$Whisp has been good to me trading it and I continue to hold a large bag of it for the very reasons mentioned above:

Attracting Larger Investors

Done right you can make a lot of money (I have), if you attract the attention of whales aka large investors.

To attract serious capital:

- Build a track record of delivering on promises: Consistently meeting or exceeding the commitments in your roadmap builds credibility with serious investors. Document your track record of delivery, comparing promised features or milestones with actual delivery dates and specifications. This history of reliability is one of the strongest signals for professional investors considering your project.

- Maintain professional communication: While meme culture has its place, communications aimed at larger investors should be clear, concise, and professional. Develop investor-specific materials that focus on market opportunity, competitive advantages, team capabilities, and growth metrics. Have these materials reviewed by experienced professionals to ensure they meet the standards expected by institutional investors.

- Have clear documentation and roadmaps: Professional investors expect comprehensive documentation. Ensure your whitepaper, tokenomics explanation, technical documentation, and roadmap are thorough, professional, and regularly updated. These should be easily accessible and written with sufficient technical detail to satisfy due diligence processes while remaining comprehensible to non-technical investors.

- Show consistent growth in both development and community: Track and regularly publish key metrics that demonstrate project growth. This might include active users, transaction volume, developer activity (GitHub commits), community size, and engagement metrics. Presenting this data in a consistent format over time helps investors identify trends and evaluate your project's trajectory.

- Network at crypto conferences and events: In-person connections remain powerful for attracting investment. Attend industry conferences, investor-focused events, and networking gatherings. Prepare a concise, compelling pitch that can be delivered in various timeframes (30 seconds, 2 minutes, 5 minutes) depending on the situation. Follow up promptly with contacts made at these events. I've never done this myself, but have many friends that do so regularly and they swear by it.

I've seen projects transform overnight when the right investors got involved, but they only came in after seeing consistent performance.

Expanding to Other Platforms

As your project grows:

  • Consider expanding from Solana to other platforms (more below): Expanding your presence increases your potential user base and resilience. Research additional Blockchains and research DEXs that align with your project's needs in terms of liquidity, user demographics, and features. Develop a clear strategy for how your token will work across multiple platforms while maintaining its core identity.

  • Get listed on centralized exchanges: Exchange listings dramatically increase accessibility and legitimacy. Start with smaller, more accessible exchanges.. a lot of the DEXs (even some CEXs) will come naturally with volume, exposure and basically the demand for your coin.. then work your way up to the bigger CEXs based on performance. Prepare comprehensive listing applications that address all technical and compliance requirements. Budget for listing fees, which can range from a few thousand dollars for smaller exchanges to hundreds of thousands for major platforms - I shit you not. It's very rare for a coin to get listed for free on a large Tier 1 CEX, it does happen but not often.

  • Develop cross-chain functionality: Cross-Chain ability adds significant value. Build or integrate with solutions that allow your users to move assets between blockchains seamlessly.. look into https://wormhole.com/. Ensure these solutions are thoroughly audited for security. Create clear documentation explaining how users can utilize your project across different blockchains.

  • Create bridges to other ecosystems within Solana: Beyond simple token transfers, develop deeper integrations with complementary ecosystems. This might include compatibility with popular Solana DeFi protocols, integration with NFT marketplaces, or connections to gaming platforms. These bridges expand your project's utility and expose it to established user bases in other ecosystems.

  • Partner with projects in different niches: Strategic partnerships can accelerate ecosystem expansion. Look for projects that complement your offerings without directly competing. Develop integrations that create mutual benefits, such as shared liquidity, combined functionality, or cross-protocol governance. Formalize these partnerships with clear agreements about responsibilities, revenue sharing, and marketing coordination. One of the first coins I went big into this cycle was "https://kikicat.xyz/" it's a memecoin cat but their USP is the dev team bought the IP to the original meme which has over 2 Billion views on giphy, they spent 7 figures to acquire it. The partnerships they've built since launching are nothing short of amazing... Bored Ape Yacht Club and The SHIB Team being two of the biggest. I done a lot of marketing for these guys and became very close with their Team Leader, turned out he's actually from the same area as me.. I didn't know this until I got involved in their community. If you want to see what a seriously dedicated following looks like KIKICat ticks all the boxes.

The most successful projects eventually outgrow their initial platform and become ecosystem players.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

The Rug Pull Reputation

The memecoin space is plagued with scams. To distinguish yourself:

Be transparent about team tokens and movements: Clearly document all team token allocations and vesting schedules. Use transparent, verifiable locking mechanisms for team tokens such as https://streamflow.finance/token-locks. Announce any planned team token movements well in advance, explaining the purpose and impact. This level of transparency builds trust and distinguishes your project from the many scams in the space.

Communicate clearly about development delays: Delays are inevitable in development. When they occur, communicate promptly and honestly about the causes, the new timeline, and any mitigation measures. Provide regular updates during the delay period to maintain transparency. This honest approach maintains trust even when progress isn't perfect.

Don't make unrealistic promises: Avoid the temptation to promise revolutionary technology, unrealistic returns, or impossible timelines. Set expectations that you're confident you can meet or exceed. Focus on concrete, achievable goals rather than grandiose visions. Your community will appreciate honesty over hype in the long run.

Build slowly and steadily rather than pumping and dumping: Focus on sustainable growth rather than short-term price action. Resist pressure to rush features or partnerships for immediate market impact. Celebrate development milestones and community growth rather than price movements. This patient approach builds a foundation for long-term success.

Address community concerns promptly and honestly: When concerns or criticisms arise, address them directly rather than ignoring or dismissing them. Acknowledge valid points and explain how you'll address them. For misconceptions, provide clear, factual corrections without being defensive. This responsive approach prevents small concerns from growing into major issues.

One hint of dishonesty can destroy everything you've built. I've seen projects that took years to build collapse in days because of a single misleading statement or undisclosed conflict of interest. Then, I've seen projects weather significant challenges because they had built such strong trust through consistent transparency that their community stood by them through difficulties, $KIKI and indeed $Whisp are both good examples of this.

Losing Momentum

Many projects start strong but fade quickly:

- Have a content calendar planned for months, not days: Develop a comprehensive content strategy that extends at least 3-6 months into the future. Include varied content types (announcements, educational material, community spotlights, technical deep dives) scheduled at regular intervals. This ensures consistent communication even during quieter development periods.

- Space out your announcements strategically: Resist the urge to announce everything at once. Map out major announcements and space them to maintain consistent momentum. Save some significant announcements for periods when you anticipate needing a boost in attention or morale. Coordinate announcement timing with development milestones to ensure you can deliver on what you announce.

- Keep development ongoing even when hype dies down: Maintain consistent development pace regardless of market conditions or community hype cycles. Document progress transparently even when it's not generating excitement. This steady building creates a substantial advantage when attention returns to your sector.

- Create regular community activities to maintain engagement: Establish recurring events and activities that keep your community active and engaged. This might include weekly AMAs, monthly competitions, regular governance votes, or community calls. These consistent touchpoints maintain community cohesion even during quieter periods.

- Have backup plans for when initial strategies don't work: No strategy works perfectly every time. Develop contingency plans for key initiatives and be prepared to pivot quickly if data shows something isn't working. Test multiple approaches simultaneously on a small scale to identify what resonates with your community before full-scale implementation.

I've seen countless projects disappear after their initial hype phase because they had no plan for maintaining momentum. One project I'm still heavily invested in is "https://vineco.in" - there is a major back story to this one, you'd need to dig into yourself on X as I'd need another thread if I was to go into it. Basically though, the dev or launcher of the $Vine Coin is the creator of the original Vine App (I'm sure many here remember it).. the first short form video app before tic tok etc. He is trying to bring it back and is leveraging the Crypto Community to push for that. Thing is he kind of left most of it up to the community... but boy have they shined for him, for what is essentially a CTO (but isn't as the dev still holds his 5% locked until 4/20 when he hopes Elon will bring Vine back) they have been ticking every box above through their own merit. The momentum the followers have is insane, never mind the dev. It's another coin I hold a LOT of as I eagerly wait to see what happens on 4/20, even with it dipping a few 100 million the optimism never faded.

Vine has also been kind to me trading it:

Conclusion

Sounds simple and launching on pumpfun which the original thread that inspired this one asked about IS. It's everything else you need to do that's where the work comes in.

Launching a memecoin on pump.fun is technically simple, but building a successful project requires dedication, strategy, and consistent effort. The most successful projects aren't just lucky - they're the result of careful planning, community building, and continuous development.

Remember that the crypto space moves incredibly fast. What works today might not work tomorrow, so stay adaptable and keep learning. The projects that survive long-term are those that can evolve with the market while staying true to their core vision AND of course those with cult like followings - once again.. you're followers are your biggest weapon!

If you're serious about creating a legitimate project that provides value and stands the test of time, focus on building something people actually want to be part of - not just something they want to flip for a quick profit. The real success stories in this space are the ones that started as memes but evolved into movements back by STRONG Followers.

The difference between a flash in the pan memecoin and a lasting project isn't luck - it's the commitment to building something of genuine value, supported by a community (there it is again) that believes in what you're creating. With the right approach, your memecoin can transcend its origins and become something truly significant in the Solana ecosystem.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm happy that you all liked it. I'll try to do something unique like this once a month. If there is any topics you'd like me to try to cover - let me know.

I've read half of this guide, and it took me quite a bit of time, but the information is top-notch. This is definitely going to be super useful for me.

Thank you for the feedback, it's appreciated.

Wow insanely detailed guide! Amazing work

Yeah it as actually longer than this (my old nickname here wasn't Raconteur for no reason lol), I tend to ramble on when I get started.. it was like 1 in the morning when I started and I finished at around 6 or so. I had to use some magic to trim a lot of my nonsense rambling down a tad and tighten it up!

That's a crazy comprehensive guide. TL;DR; building a successful meme coin is like running a startup – gotta have a plan, a team (community!), and be ready to grind way past the launch. What's been the most surprising thing you've learned in your crypto journey so far?

EXACTLY.. that is exactly how it should be... and better still run like a silicon valley start-up on top of that if you really want to make an impact.

Honestly? How shady it can be and the dark side it has. That people are very short sighted when "quick" money is on the table, friends have told me it's this cycle that it's been strange. I've seen some amazing products that were flying and had potential to go to millions... turn round and rug after a few hours, they're going up the chart in a fucking straight line, like proper effort put into these just to rug them.

Solana is a sess pool filled with a lot of scum, but I guess you get that anywhere.

Thank you to the BHW staff for sticking my thread!

ANNNDDD YOOOOO - I mentioned VINE many times in this thread and how much conviction I had in it - PLEASSSEEEE tell me some of you listened and are following the news over the past hour!!

Yeah and the good cool stuff they just ditch very fast is what hurts the most.

Btw regarding tokenomics and fees for a dapp is it a tokenomics expert I should get or someone else?

THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!! I just thought of a project idea few days ago so the timing couldn't have been better!!!! Could we please have a chat somewhere so I can discuss my idea with you??

I don’t see why you would need a “tokenomics expert” I’ve never even heard of such a thing? It’s just math bro, pretty easy to work out.

No, someone that wants to discuss ideas with me will find me on X and message me from an account with reputation, not a newbie account on BHW.

Guys - that Vine is doing serious bits, the tic toc ban is most likely to come this week. The whole of X is talking about Vine, Ed fucking Sheering shared a video to tic toc (master troll lol) last night that’s been viewed around 10 Million times now - his to-do list at the end of it “2. Bring back Vine”

Do yourselves a favour, REALLY look hard into this, I’ve been involved since day 1 and the chickens are now finally coming home to roost!

I can understand why you segragate new users. I may have only joined BHW and the crypto space last year but I have a very serious attitude towards my idea. After reading your guide I immediately understood you have a lot of experience in the space, so I could really use some insight from you on whether the idea is even worth it, how to go about it and various other inquiries...

This is a genuine request and so is my intention towards this project. I didn't specifically mention to chat on BHW and we can connect on X as you said.
