my whole content is gone and the theme changed everything is gone ?!?!?!? :((((
whats happening ??
 
ey fellas i am really depressed now , somehow happened that i was sent to a 5-minutes wordpress reinstallation while doing the prefix tab... now all my content is gone and its the usual wp theme with the fucked up paragraphs saying this is a new wordpress theme :((
 
HELP !!!

I just updated the Wp Better Security Plugin and my site has gone down. It gives me "database error"
Please help

Deactivate the plugin in WP Dashboard and Activate it again. If you can't access WP Dashboard, login to FTP and delete the plugin folder. You can always install the plugin again.
 
I see a lot of "secure wordpress" tutorials..... but none of them are ever geared towards people that use nginx.

nginx > apache
 
when i try to change my username from admin to something new, i was required to log-in again but the problem is the new password does not take effect and my old username 'admin' still sticks. am i missing something here?

Create a new account.... and make it an admin.... then login as that account.... and delete the original admin account.
 
do i still need to edit wp-config permissions andd .htaccess file for it?
 
I also strongly suggest this plugin. I had my blog hacked 5 times, before i eventually installed this plugin and it helped a lot.

I find this plugin.
Because of i am working a medical site .
so i find a plugin for secured site .
also i am try to create a wp plugin.
 
This thread is good and helpful but is not actually going to prevent somebody from hacking your wordpress site, not even close.

People can still hack sites at the server level through old versions of Apache. They can still hack your site via plugins that you install in the future, or components like woocommerce...and our REAL black hat friends will still keep searching for holes in each new version of wordpress that is released. They can install crap on your computer and use your cookies to get into your site (older version of WP). And I've only begun

My only point is not to have a false sense of security. My advice is to gather all information on your site, especially plugins, then search in google "wordpress version X exploit" or "[name of plugin] hack". You'd be surprised how vulnerable most sites are.

Edit: to clarify, renaming aspects of your site makes it harder for hackers to find, since they often search by exploit, but won't prevent them from hacking you if they target you directly
