While Reddit is currently one of the top favoured parasites on Google (until big G has sucked their data dry!) it's ripe for finding juicy keywords. There have been a few guides similar to this posted on BHW, but I thought I might as well highlight the technique while it's relevant and fruitful.

You'll need an account with Ahrefs, Semrush, Serpstat or similar tool - one of the $7 Semrush accounts from the marketplace is fine.

1) Find your target subreddit(s)

There may well be subreddits already ranking for your keywords - if this is the case it should be an ideal target for our research. Otherwise you can check other niche keywords and see if you can find one ranking, or just put your niche into Reddit's own search box and see what it spits out. Whatever subreddit you end up with, it should be broadly related to the niche you're interested in.

2) Paste it into your SEO tool of choice

Visit your Ahrefs/Semrush etc account, and paste your chosen subreddit into the query box, selecting 'path', 'subfolder', or 'url prefix' from the search type, depending on the tool you're using. Then go to your organic keywords section.

3) Tweak those filters

Now to refine things. Add some filters, such as CPC > $0.50 (making sure there's money there, not applicable for Semrush users though - you can filter by transactional searches), KD < 10 (checking for easy rankability), position < 10/20 (should be rankable with a parasite)

4) ????????

5) Profit!

Enjoy your list of profitable keywords in your niche!

Easy, simple and straight to the point.

Are you targeting the keywords with your own website or another parasite?

Damn, you revealed my method.
I, personally, use forums and reddit to find easy keywords.

That is serpstat?
Yup! I picked up a LTD for it years ago, and have been using it now and then since my Ahrefs legacy account went bye-bye. I'd say there's a freshness issue, but still lots of usable data.

Why would they increase rankings to suck data??

Why not both? Multiple properties are always better than one

Sorry dude

Finding keywords in Reddits is a pot which will never dry no matter how much you drain. Useful share for many.

The type of guides I like to read here. Simple, easy, and straightforward. Thanks for sharing this, I’m definitely gonna try it out with SEMrush.

This is awesome and Reddit will always remain a goldmine

Love this, time to work on it and see how it goes.

Do you think filtering by search volume would be profitable though?

Great share. Can also then look up subdomains of web 2.0 blogs in that same niche to get more as a supplemental strategy.

Sure, but you want to make sure there is money there, and it's feasible to rank top 10, first of all.

Great twist!

Just to let you know, medium updated its policy against AI generated content. They have sent an email about that.

Beginning May 1, 2024, stories with AI-generated writing (disclosed as such or not) are not allowed to be paywalled as part of our Partner Program.

Accounts that have fully AI-generated writing behind the paywall may have those stories removed from the paywall, and/or have their Partner Program enrollment revoked.

Please remove all AI-generated writing from behind the paywall by May 1st to remain compliant with this policy, and stay active in the Partner Program. We define AI-generated writing as writing where the majority of the content has been created by an AI-writing program with little or no edits, improvements, fact-checking, or changes. This does not include AI writing tools such as AI outlining, or AI assisted fact, spelling, or grammar checkers.

Additionally, stories with AI-generated writing will also have the following distribution restrictions:

Nice method, it's to take advantage of reddit before reddit is gone from the serps. Somehow I missed this method. Well, bookmarking it this time.
