Hopefully I'll do a Karma Farming Guide in the future. For now, let's discuss the Karma Theory on Reddit. I'll share my observations from someone who has owned 100 different Reddit accounts hand-made at some point. What makes an upvote "count (high quality)" vs "spam (not count)". Note: I've never used bots so I have no idea on this. Everything I've done is manual.
1. Comment Karma matters A LOT more than Post Karma. An account with 1000 post karma but 0 comment karma is less valuable for voting than 1 post karma and 1000 comment karma. I've noticed that comment karma is all that needs for upvotes to register whether its target is a post or comment. More on that later.
2. An account does not need to be aged a year. I've upvoted on accounts as young as one week old.
3. If the votes "registered", the karma will increase/decrease. What I do to verify is open a different browser and pull up the target's karma profile. Then after testing an upvote, I check to see if the karma increased. If it increased, it 100% registered as a high quality upvote. While Reddit officially stated that karma is not 1:1, it's pretty close. If it did not count, there's no way to verify (that I know of correct me if I'm wrong). I have purchased upvotes before where they did not increase they karma count on profile but they still increased the posts' ranking.
4. It's highly recommended to create new accounts manually and/or through Residential Proxies. In 2022, Reddit still shadowbans users. To avoid that, only manually create vote accounts and use residential proxies. You don't even need proxies. You could in fact do it at a nearby school or library with 1 account every week or so. Accessing the account does not have to be done via residential proxies, provided that it has karma in it.
5. Shitposting on that account likely will trigger Reddit's shadowban algorithm. If a post is removed manually by a moderator of a particular subreddit and the account as no other non-removed posts, shadowbans are likely to follow. If it's removed by an Auto Moderator, it won't trigger that. A good way to avoid the shadowban algorithm is to manually "delete" your removed posts immediately.
6. Datacenter proxies do work. However, only for upvotes. For some reason, downvoting does not work under a datacenter proxy. I've tested this multiple times using aged accounts with karma and proper slow voting procedures. Only my main Reddit accounts from my real IP registered. Though I have purchased bulk downvotes from various services and they did register but they are weighted very lightly so you'd need hundreds.
7. An account with no post history but with karma and age on it can still register upvotes. If you have earned karma before and don't want anyone to see how you earned it, you can always delete it and that account has activated its quality voting status. I have a few accounts with 500 comment karma and 100 post karma yet all posts are deleted.
8. As additional info on point #1, in order for upvotes to register as high quality for comments, the account has to have earned "comment karma" at any point from that subreddit. Even if you've previously earned "post karma" from that particular subreddit, your upvotes towards a comment, will not count. That means I could just type a random comment and gain 1 comment karma point in that subreddit then delete that comment and boom, I'm all set. Yet for some reason, if I earned 100 post karma in that subreddit it would not work. For example, I want to upvote a comment in r/Science but I have never earned any comment karma from it. It will not work even if I have 1,000 comment karma somewhere else.
9. However, upvoting a post does not require relevant post or comment karma. That means if you are upvoting an r/Politics post despite all your karma earned from r/AskReddit, it will still count, provided you have other procedures done.
10. There's actually a cap of how many human top quality upvotes a device can have (upvotes that increase karma). After manually using 10 different residential proxies on my desktop, only 5 counted with karma increase. If you're making a bot, it may be something to consider.
11. You really don't need that much comment or post karma overall. Most of my accounts don't have more than 50 comment karma or more than 10 post karma yet the votes still counted. Around that much should be enough.
