I wouldn't say its just helpful, it's essential. The fact is arguably the most important ranking factors are in the backlinks, and guest posts (if done right) are one of the most powerful types of links you can get. Just stay clear of all the overused search operators people tell you to put into google.

The problem I have is finding websites to do guest posting with. My employer doesn't want to spend money on guest posting so it's difficult to find free opportunities. I only came across one chance in the last year. The business I'm in is building materials and tools. If a relevant person has a website chances are they don't have a blog or if they do they don't post and get confused on what I'm asking for and stop engaging. Anyone here have any tips on getting guest posts that isn't paying? Or is everyone more or less paying for guest posts?
