Guest Posting Vs Just Getting A Site To Link To You

I feel like I have done my fair share of guest posts and I want to get some clean links to one of my sites through outreach. What are some strategies for just getting someone to link to you straight up. I would be willing to pay or ghostwrite content, but I guess I would prefer not to do this if it possible. I'm a little worried to offers these anyways because I don't want to be reported. Is that something that happens. I'm finding it rather easy to secure gust posts but as I said, I want some links that I'm not the author of.

Broken link building and unlinked mentions would be the easiest to go after imo. You can automate a lot of broken link building with broken link builder.
