GSA - Getting started

I'm considering buying GSA. Since this my very first step into BH and automated ranking mechanisms, I have pretty much no idea whatsoever on how to approach this. I've searched the forum and found a couple of useful threads, but nothing that has really answered all of my questions in a degree I'd consider enough.

My project(s):
As of right now, I've got a couple of smaller projects with no SEO done to them at all. They've been prepared so I could test out GSA. Most of them will be PPD/PPI niches, maybe I'll target some other niches in the future. Don't really know yet. But basically they're pretty much churn&burn (no authority sites - I'd like to rank them fast and would like them to stay up for a couple of months, but don't mind if they eventually get penalized). So now that you know what I'm after, here are my questions.

1. What GSA addons would you consider recommended/mandatory (captcha breaker, indexer, ..) (*I already have a cracked version of captcha sniper)
2. What kind of VPS can you recommend? I've pretty much no idea what to go for.
3. Proxies - are they absolutely mandatory? As of right now I own 5 proxies. Is it neccessary to buy additional proxies, or will the GSA proxy scraper work, too? (Please remember, small projects)
4. Learning Curve/Settings: Are there any 'must read' threads, or settings that you should use?
5. Additional information: Have I forgotten anything? Anything you'd like to add? (Please see the attached .pdf)

As you can see, I'd like to start out small and once I get the hang of it, I'll definitely upgrade. But I don't feel like investing huge piles of money just to have the ultimate GSA system, while my projects are pretty simple and small for now.
I've attached a .pdf file from the cleanfiles forum which is supposed to be sort of a GSA ranking tutorial. Would you considers this useful, or complete BS?

Didn't know they had one.

1. Captcha breaker and read the GSA forum.
2. Opus Interactive for VMs
3. Gscraper is your friend, and I recommend at least 20 proxies so that you don't burn through your five while you are learning. Lots of good providers out there, just make sure they aren't shared.
4. GSA forum, Jacob King has good videos and stuff on his blog, and practice. It is going to take time.

I would go to fiverr, here and other places to find footprint lists and such. Can be a big time saver, even if most of the list is crap.

2. When you buy the software, the will recommend a lot of services for you ( Proxies, captcha breakers, VPS)
3. Yes, I would recommend having some dedicated proxies, or you can at least go with semi-dedicated. Public proxies become dead really quickly.
4. GSA forums, video tutorials in the forums and Matthew Woodward. If you have any specific problems, I recommend getting it within the GSA Forums.
5. Learning curve may be high depending on your SEO knowledge. I would also recommend Scrapebox with a good list of footprints.

1. You should really buy captcha breaker man. Because I'm not sure how you're getting updates and more importantly the developers of GSA can use that money. I just hate seeing people steal programs that are as well priced as GSA + CB is. And to answer your question I use Captcha Breaker and Indexification.

2. I've been using berman for a while and I recommend them but I don't. Like they're good to get started with, and their VPS's are great. But when its time to scale you will want to ditch berman and go for OVH and get a dedicated server (I heard 90% of vps websites are resellers of OVH).

3. Proxies are not mandatory. If you're tight on cash you can optimize GSA so it runs fast with public proxies.

4. The learning curve is steep. Its not steep to set up a campaign its steep to optimize GSA and get your LPM high. So spend a few months reading nonstop and learning the application.

5. Find power users on the GSA forums. Copy exactly what they do. Thats the best way to get GSA optimized and running fast.
