G's next move

As an entrepreneur ( and a programmer) I would like to think that after a decade Google will discard site search feature and will only display the stolen content from zillions of sites without even acknowledging them. Wait till then and flame me. Period.

In my opinion next steps will be backed up by top technology which will leave mediocre IM'ers with empty pockets.
That's why, you either evolve or die.

As technology becomes more sophisticated, they will have more potential to check for spun content in my opinion.

Imagine it like code breaking, article spinning software *encodes* the article, using a *template* (or set of synonyms), Google has it's own set of synonyms, and can decode this into possible variants, then when it finds a similar variant that is a certain % close enough, it runs further checks for footprints, such as:

Do they link to the same site/s?

So then say they find 100 articles, all with the same *encoding*, all linking out to the same domain.

The odds of that naturally are 0.0000001%, therefore these sites are affiliated, or compromised, so they either discount the links, penalise the linking domain, or penalise the article domain.

On mass, it all has to be scalable, and there has to be thresholds.

More advanced footprints, using the *average sites* as a middle ground, is their way forward.

So small scale, manually created networks will never be caught, as their is no true way to find a footprint for something that is truly original.

However, if you cut corners, you run the risk, and whereas spun content might not be trackable now, in the future it will be.

That's an interesting comment. How do you think they're going to punish the people behind PBNs?

One thing I've wondered -- and this is pure speculation -- is that they may use their registrar capabilities to blacklist the names of domain owners who have been associated with large scale PBNs or had their PBNs deindexed. Those people on that blacklist would never get their sites indexed in Google. Again, that's just speculation.

I'm sure with the massive amount of data they have anything's possible.

They will look for the person's identity and personas online, collect all the information about them that they can. IPs they use to login to WMT, Gmail snooping, Chrome tracking, domain information, Google analytics, anything they can. Then map out their online activity and the sites they own or are involved with and get their team to be very harsh when analysing each site, usually ending up with them deindexing the lot.

Its happened to me.

I don't want to be a scaremongerer, but sometimes its not just a bluff and we have to protect ourselves. Google is now an attacker, a dangerous entity like a virus and you need to protect yourself.

A few months ago I would have called you paranoid - but after what Cutts did to you personally, and the passive-aggressive way he did it, I unfortunately have to agree with you...

It was never about totaling killing off SEO since that would defeat Google's purpose. It was about cleaning up whatever
they possibly could without going to far.

your story is a bit scary tbh! however there are others who have also noticed that when they declare war, they go all out a bit like rogue agencies of the World.

Very interesting point. I also think that Spun content may become a liability in next few years.

Backlink analysis will be more sophisticated and Google will continue to use the disavow submission that all the sheep have been making.

Notice how the overall spread of Penguin has been getting more sophisticated in some areas but then you see examples of the same thing rankings websites. I'm willing to bet it's the sites that are being linked from that are the problem and not the overall link profile.

This will likely change in 2014.

The another thing that Google could kill is organic keywords data in Google Analytics. They switch them off already, so there will be no point to keep organic keywords section at all. For what - a not provided chart? :)

Besides that historical data about the organic keywords which drove traffic to your website is a last thing that could help you with an old-style keyword research. You already know what G thinks about SEO ;)

Disappearing organic keywords data in Google Analytics is the result of the Google decision to always enabling "https" after NSA scandal arose.

Googles next move? Well it is obvious. It will involve a tweet from Matt and then all the people thick enough to be taken in by his bullshit will spread it round forums for him.

On top of this, I also think Google will begin removing sites such as my own and BHW from their results because they promote violations against their guidelines.

Just wait and see, it is the next logical step and I can see them pushing closer already.

I don't like to give ideas to Google how to make our work harder.

Take it easy and make a counter attack plan.

If BHW dies, who will then do Matt's work?

Google's next move is to use the data theyve been collecting about the people behind the PBNs to punish them hard.

The questions is, what is our next move?

That will come in time bro.
You are trying to get to the hotel even before taking the plane :D

I normally circle the local zoo a couple of times to see what's next.
