G's next move

I was just wondering that what will be G's next move!

I mean they havent even succeeded against SAPE completely and the next generation of link building is pretty much PBNs and few other techniques. I know few people who ranking things like crazy and earning 100s of thousands through their methods. Not me though sadly haha. To give them the due credit though, they have pretty much destroyed the crappy linkbuilding that was done using automated tools like Magic Submitter etc and was pretty successful until a year ago. However blackhatters have now flocked to PBNs. Just recently a very interesting message was shared by someone here by ranking anything using redirects. There are loads of other methods that are still working.

Right now the only strategy G has to have a cowboy style strategy of having a team headed by Cutts and his boys going after public blog networks and basically bringing websites down manually. However there is no algorithmic thing which can take out a PBN for example.

Clearly Blackhat is one step ahead of them. G are always playing the catching up. Its the nature of the business though with any type of 'enforcement'. but I am sure behind the huge multi-million pounds worth HQs of G in UK/US, there must be some huge projects going on to tackle PBNs algorithmically.

What do you think is coming next in Polar Bear 2?

I think the only way they can handle PBN's at the moment is with their manual team. No algorithmic update can really take down quality networks.

then they will lose. Because it is simply IMPOSSIBLE to bring down all networks like this manually. I mean theoretically each of us can have as many networks as we like So they would have to do something, may be devalue expired domains?

haha....I remember there was this young 17 yr old hacker who was offered a job by either twitter or facebook after he broke into their systems a few years ago

They invested in Boston Dynamics to create drones. They will track and eliminate every threat they'll encounter to their money printer - adwords But seriously - it's difficult to tell. They have a big pile of data and God knows how they will use it against SEO industry, if they will find a way how to implement it on a scale.

G always find a way to make our life more entertaining but still G is fighting lost battle. And making only more chaos.

My prediction:

They'll come to rely even more heavily on their weapon of choice - propaganda.
Why fight a real war, with real manpower, at a real cost, when you can discourage possibly a large percentage of would-be-threats from even taking the first step?

I suggest their focus will be on improving the reach and effectiveness of their propaganda.

EDIT: And, I've previously used the analogy of 'the war on drugs' to describe G's 'war on spam'. Think about how that 'war on drugs' has progressed - how many TV shows (propaganda) are now dedicated to showing how purportedly awesome and effective the border agencies are at detecting drugs? I tell ya, it's all about propaganda.

Hmmm.... I didn't think there were many of them left in this modern society

The game for Google is much harder than for blackhatters. Once they discover a loophole it's usually too late already because we have found another loophole already

In theory, what you are saying is correct, but practically, running a private network is not easy and its not cheap. I have thought many times about creating my own private network but the logistics of such a move are overwhelming...my 2 cents...

I just don't have the time to run an e-commerce site and build a private network.

Is private blog network on hard task ? I don't have experience with PBN but i definitely want to try one out. I have been through forums and blogs about it. But yeah, that sounds much more $$ for a PBN.

Google's best bet is ramping up their propaganda, and to be honest it has been working for them so far.

Webmasters are so scared to do anything these days, and I don't expect things to change any time soon.

Building a private blog network is not a hard task, trust me on this but it's really time consuming. I've got around 100 domains in my blog network and it took me months to build it and I haven't had a single domain deindexed. However if you really want to start ranking long term, private blog networks are the way to go

You will always get newbies saying Google is after "private blog networks". I just want to make it clear that they are mainly after networks that have thousands of users linking to all sorts of spammy websites which definitely triggers an alarm.

Keep it clean and simple.

Btw, I'll do a series of tutorials on how to create a private blog network with ease for free on blackhatworld soon.

I agree that this has been their strategy and they name their victims quite openly these days just to spread the fear among others.

hmmm....I think we all know this ... but HOW? What are their possible options?

That's an interesting comment. How do you think they're going to punish the people behind PBNs?


One thing I've wondered -- and this is pure speculation -- is that they may use their registrar capabilities to blacklist the names of domain owners who have been associated with large scale PBNs or had their PBNs deindexed. Those people on that blacklist would never get their sites indexed in Google. Again, that's just speculation.


I'm sure with the massive amount of data they have anything's possible.

If the PBNs will be punished hard, why shouldnt these services not create just another, new network and sell links again?
