I am not sure if anyone else has experienced this or I am the crazy one :p

I have done a bit of keyword research for MNS's and so far some keywords seem to change in the amount of searches they get.

I always log in to view the CPC and I always choose "exact" instead of broad and "only show ideas closely related to my search terms"

Keyword1: Once I was not logged in(I thought I was) and searched for keyword1 and it showed less than 100 local results. Didn't see the CPC results so I logged in and it showed 1900 local results. I thought it was strange so I tried a couple of times over the next few days and every time I logged in I got the 1900 local results.

Keyword2: Logged in every time I searched keyword2 and it was showing over 1000 local results. fast forward about 2 weeks and the results are now 58. Tested for 3 more days and the local results are staying at 58.

Am I crazy or can these results change dramatically like this?

Also what about keyword1 with the different results when I am logged in vs. logged out?

Has anyone else seen G keyword tool display different results so quickly?

I really have seen different results in just a small time span in the keyword tool. :( Seems like I am the only one seeing these crazy reults, so it's true I am the one who is crazy, lol!

I am guessing that I must have something wrong with my browser setup or something.

Are you sure the Broad, [exact], "phrase" options where the same on each of your tests?

Broad, [exact], "phrase" are the most common mistakes people make, I often forget it when I change browser or logout of gmail and then get all exited finding a 30k broad keyword with no competition but find out it has 120 [exact] searches later on.

You may also want to look at what info is attached to your profile versus what your IP at the time was. If your IP is a different location than your normal login IP, or the location attached to your Google profile this would change the results

Google's tool is inaccurate at times as they do include "projections" and such.

I thought I had better put an update here. I was seeing some varience when I was logged out of GKWT vs. when I was logged in. Since then I really haven't used it logged out and so far when I go back and check all of my searches seem stable. So I guess the trick is to always be logged in.

Also I realized my other issue may well be me not clicking exact that one time (I sure could have missed it, after all I am only human :o).

Anyway, since I have seen stable results for a while now I guess my issue is now a non-issue. :)

Thanks everyone who gave their thoughts!
