If I'm to start a FB Group now on countryside living, how do I get traction and get it to grow, considering that I can't run ads to FB Groups? Or does FB algorithm automatically promote new groups?

In 2020, I created a dating group for South Africans to promote a dating offer. I started by adding friends with SA profiles and automatically inviting them to the group. I also posted sexy SA women photos in the group with interactive questions like "single lady here, would you date me?", that would give me some likes and comments which is engagement. I also shared this posts on South African dating groups.
I kept doing that for two months and after some time, fb algo started promoting my group, I started getting like 500 members per day.

Just start posting content, share with groups and also invite friends. After a while, the algo will pick up your group promote it on related groups

Start by subscribing to groups that have almost the same theme as you do.

Participate in the exchanges (publication/comment), while inserting a link to your group for people who would like to learn more about the subject

Honestly, I wonder if it's worth the effort though. I could also post my own photos to other already big groups and include a link to my website etc.

join groups with a similar niche to your own and ask the admin if you can throw up
an advert, some will say yes if you ask first ,

Btw, do you guys post on other FB groups asking them to join your group? Pretty sure most groups don't allow that.

Have you found any good startegy?
I've been friending members from other groups. but out of 300 invites to my Ecommerce friends, only 0.3% got it.
That's a 0.3% conversion rate

Nah, gave up on social media for now.

My advice, you need to learn more about facebook, and stick with it, I think it will help you a lot.
