Growing a TikTok Account in 2021 & Beyond

at around 5 followers/day. posting 3-4 times during the peak windows maximizing watchtime.

I noticed that my shorter videos have a better retention. I have content that's at about 35% retention but I'm shooting for 70% retention for the first 3 seconds. r

Still at around 200 views per video, but it seems like the number is slowly climbing with each post.

I'm spacing out my posts with at least 1 hour between them.

Will update more if I see any new patterns. The main thing that I'm focusing on is optimizing the content to increase the retention rate.

I think I might be out of the 200 view "prison".

I seemed to cross the 300 view mark after consistent content optimization.

I'm still trying to figure everything out. It doesn't seem like my content is being pushed out at all.
My likes and comments are increasing by a factor of 2 or 3, but I'm still in that 200 view prison.

I want to post more, but I don't want to be penalized for posting too often.

I remember starting this journey with a more rigid number-based format. I'll structure my updates differently. I'm beginning to work more closely with the English language and have improved in my usage.
 
More likes more comments. I would say that the likes are multiplying...and the watchtime is getting better on the content. I'm at around 50% retention in the 3 secs of the video and still trapped in the 200 view prison. I've got a few videos flirting with 300 but for whatever reason won't cross the threshold. I'm also starting to notice more saves of my content too.

Cracked 300 views on a few new videos. The likes seem to be accelerating. I'm looking forward to see where the account goes.

Experimenting with my workflow. Starting to make more use of drafts and am focusing on crafting better descriptions.

Cracked 300 views on another video again. Also, finally reached 1800 followers. I recently noticed that I'm gaining more followers on a day-to-day basis. I'm not sure if this is related to total watchtime.

Scratching 400 it seems. A set of video series has been essential for keeping the posts fresh and engaging.
Likes are hovering around 20 per post.
Posts are averaging about 2 saves each.
The retention curve seems to be tightening up near the beginning due to the text on-screen.
I'm steadily gaining new followers. Almost at 1900.

Starting to see the average views on videos rise to 300. so there's another bit of a hurdle to jump over. Not at 1900 yet, but will be there shortly. Starting to consistently get comments on my posts now. about 1 or 2 whenever I use a comment based CTA.

Rough beginning to the month but I've managed to surpass 1900 followers. I've hit 400 views at one point but views dropped for a few days (200-350) because I've been reposting the same 2-3 videos.

The saves have climbed to an average of 4 saves/post. I've switched up the post captions here and there too. Comment avg has been increasing because I've been using AI to maximize the caption variation.

Also, I started to make use of the scheduling tool in the tiktok creator center to better pinpoint my posting times as well.

Nothing much when it comes to an update. I reached a milestone with the most likes on a post I've seen, even with reduced posting and reused content. It seems that the engagement stats are getting better and better as time goes on. The only real change is the daily swapping out the captions. Views are steady but the likes are increasing linearly. One well optimized video can be reposted daily without any view penalty.
