Does anyone have experience growing a group on Linkedin?

Theres a ton of enormous groups (100k+ ) that people in the same industry join. But has anyone here gotten a group off of the ground (say to a few K users)?

I have tried to grow a group on LinkedIn. But I can't generate members for my group. I don't think this is an easy job.

I think the beginning (first few k?) is the hardest, as the "SEO" of Linkedin Groups seems to be connected with the number of members.

Your milage with growing LinkedIn groups may vary greatly. Generally you want a niche or industry you can stick to, add all the relevant keywords to your group description (that's particularly important), stay open and searchable, regulate spam, and be active and engaging. Starting discussions and carrying topics drive good engagement. Once you've got all that set, the rest requires a lot of luck to actually take off to several hundreds to thousands.

What about the first, say, 1000 people? How would u recommend to get that ball rolling?

Reaching out to a few to get a pulse on interest? It's really tough to say what to do exactly, devil's in the details and all that. Try and encourage group members to invite people, share the Group URL with your connections through an update in your feed or to a single, 1st-degree connection through LinkedIn Messaging. Ensure members can request to join by clicking on the link. Just a couple of things from the "Promoting your group" thread on LinkedIn. Might be worth checking that out too, in case you haven't already.
