Groups, What are the best ways to market them?

Im building up a nice group and I want to get some ideas of how to best market it.

Should I just add a link to an offer and hope for the best?

make a fan page for the same group. post the fan page url in the groups description.. then youll have 2 lots of memberships.. use group page to plug a affil link on.. and use fan pages with status updates to pimp cpa offers..

What do you mean by group page posting affiliate links.
Are there other places to post an aff link other than the description?
