Say there's an article about dog poop. Do you think one should combine articles like dog diarrhea, constipation, dog pee, and other similar topics each with a considerable search volume into one, or write them separately?

Would putting them together improve the quality of the final article and make it easy to get backlinks for that one article or does having multiple articles and interlinking create a topical authority to help rank better?

I would write an article separately for each
You can easily come up with an essay topic for each of those topics

For example
The Dog diarrhea can have it's own headings such as
Common Causes
Types of Dog Diarrhea
Sub cat -> What does the Color Diarrhea mean?
Which breeds are more likely affected
Medical Conditions
Treatment
etc list can go on ;)

I have personally never done that, keep one article focused on one topic, it will help in SEO too. Don't confuse Google shit head bots.
