Greyhat Method Journal (8 months in) RESULTS

I love reading journals like these on BHW, always great to see other BHW's succeed!

Definitely great motivation for myself to stop being lazy and do some work.

you might as well have gotten a job.

learn to program an iphone or an ipad and make $120k a year PLUS have fun at work.

compiling 47 THOUSAND keywords and then writing a crapload of articles and wordpress pages using them only to make a lousy $1400 a month seems like a waste of time to me. hell, it IS a waste of time.

Interesting technique and share! but how is it technically possible to increase your serps by only using social networking websites as backlinks? Twitter, Facebook and co are all no follow to start with. This makes me a bit curious.

hey keyz, thanks for keeping us updated here. Your method is insanely good. I completely forgot about this thread for a while, but glad to see you still posting in here because it's definitely something I'm interested in implementing for my content strategy.

Got some more questions for you if you don't mind :D

Do you ever look at the competition of your keywords and whether you can rank or not? Or is it purely gathering keywords that are growers from Google Trends?

Are you still making $1400+ with adsense? Btw if you autolink your keywords to affiliate products, you could probably do a lot better than just with adsense.

And how broad is your site? Would you create a site around a large category like Finance, or narrow it down to insurance or mortgage or debt repair.

Don't bother with the competition. There will ALWAYS be competition. Your not trying to compete for 2-3 KWs with this. thats where competition would be a problem. Your going for 2-3000 KW at least. Becuase of the quantity you will beat out the competition somewhere or another eventually. So just focus on the "trendsetter" KW using Gtrends.

my best month was last month where I broke $1.5k but on average yeah I dont think my earnings have changed despite the traffic growth. I must be getting "smart priced".....or robbed hahaha.

I agree with you about the selling affiliate products. I started with adsense because honestly I haven't reasearched monetizing much. Everyone knows adsense so I figured I start there. I would like to eventually sell products instead of just ad space though. Will look into your suggestion thanks.

My site is broad because do to this you need A LOT of Keywords and content. You go the micro niche route you will run out of content eventually. Essentially what your doing as someone else mentioned is building an "authority" site.

I'm a full time grad student. I could only work part time right now if I wanted job and, at least around where I live, a part time job is a few hundred bucks a month at best.

The field I'm going into has an average salary of 150-200K to start.

the majority of work in this method is the list building and social networking in the beginning. After that its a few hours a week of writing articles. If I factor all the time I actually was sitting down and working to get to this point it would be around 200-250 hours of real, uninterupted work. Weighed against the money I make each month so far its about $40 bucks an hour at this point. If this site keeps growing and I monetize it better it could easily be more.

$40 bucks an hour to write articles on something I'm interesed in while I'm sitting in my underwear smoking a joint? why not......

Amen to that mann I'm really interested in this method. Have you looked into using the windows 7 speech to text software? You can write a 500 word article by word of mouth in like 5 min easy.

Haven't tried windows 7 speech to text

I tried dragon speech/speak or whatever its called. Didnt work, for me at least. Too much editing.

If anything I'm at the point where I might just start outsourcing some copywriters. However, for the quality and quantity I'm looking for it wouldnt be cheap and I'm not sure I want to make that investment just yet with the kind of tuition bills I have right now :P

Nice method and i will try to implement this method.
Keep us update. :)

So does niche really matter with this method? I mean if you have 4k keywords, the probability that a few of those are profitable, no matter the niche, is pretty high wouldn't you say? I mean obviously you aren't going to select some obscure thing but like I could just choose mobile electronics off the top of my head and use that as a niche?

From what I can see you are getting roughly $28 cpm(40k visits/$1400 adsense).

Lets say around $45 a day ($1400/30 days). Thats chump change for the amount of time you are putting in in terms of keyword research etc. I personally would never have the patience to go fo 1k+ keywords, let alone 10k+

It would take less effort and time to go about aiming for 10 sites making $5 a day. Honestly with 10-20 decent articles with quality keyword research and a moderate link building strategy this can be a 1 month project per site if you put it an hour or two a day. Any site that doesnt hit the target just flip for $100 and outsource another 10-20 articles in a different niche.

Not hating, im just saying this strategy seems painful and slow. Then again, you are obviously going for quantity > quality in terms of keywords. I look forward to see how your next 3 sites compare :)

Remember, Work Smart Not Hard

First off, thanks for your comments and advice.

I deffinetly thought about this and if you made it work it seems like it would be pretty nice.

Only problem I see is if you're talking a 10-20 article site it seems to me at least your talking about a micro niche site. Finding 10 good microniches for each site that also have profitable keywords that you got a shot at competing for seems hard enough. Looks more like if you got a good way to research micro niches this would be a perfect method.

This is a slow and painful process though so I am hoping these new sites can not only repeat the success I had with my first site but also do a quicker job.

I agree with op... There are so many sites I know are PR5 and PR6. They have only 100 to 200 links...

And I have a blog which has more than 5000 baclinks (scrapebox blast) still in pr 0...

I get critisized for shunning backlinks but a simple "the more backlinks the better" formula seems WAY to easy to follow year after year. Google doesnt expect backlink spam galore? I dont believe their backlink ranking algorithm is that prominent.

It's obviously working for him so I guess there's something to it... I'll sticf to building my backlinks though...I think I'll try some of his other methods too though for some of my sites...it can't hurt

Only first question from me. How do you get content?

1. Copywrite

2. Pay someone to copywrite.

3 . Get into a market you have an interest in (it will be easier to create orignial content).

Basically....

information is mostly free online. What you are looking for for your site exists elsewhere on the net already. Its just a matter of making it unique.

Some of my content is original on topics I have actual experience in. I would say 70% of it is copywritten.

do you think you could answer this? sorry i'm just very interested in this method and thinkin about takin the plunge myself

Sorry I missed this question before.

your correct when talking about the probabilty of getting at least a few profitable kw from thousands to start with. This is the general idea behind this method.

The niche matters only in terms of SIZE. Your creating something with lots of content down the road. Avoid micro niche sites as I stated before when doing this.

Mobile electronics is a great idea actually. Lots of ground to cover with that (phones,audio/video,games,etc.)

Havent updated this thread in a while so here some info on what I have been up to...

Out of the 3 sites I started a year ago 2 basically flopped. One of them was the video game one. Video games are a very low profit niche for adwords and cpa...found that out the long way.....a year of work :(

but what site worked? I ventured into adult marketing last year and have been having moderate success so far. Have a site up and everything recieving about 600 UV a day at this point. :) That combined with my existing main money making site has gotten me back to where I was before my rankings got jumbled up a few months back (panda?).

What has been working?

Google Trends - My orginal method I started this thread with is still good here. Because its adult (pics/vids/stories) it may seem harder but you would be surprised on the growing trends in the adult industry. us G trends to research keywords and branch out from there.

Youtube - Video marketing is still the easiest traffic to get but doesnt always convert

Twitter - get a system down to gain followers than install a twitter plugin for wp to tweet each post (there are a bunch now google it. I think tweetthis is one). Within weeks time you will see traffic

WP - wordpress makes putting together a blogsite too easy and fun. G loves this CMS too.

Add content daily (If I miss a day I simply do 2x as much the next day. About 20 minutes of work a day tops.

and the golden key for this site?

A wonderful service offered right here on BHW: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...okmarking-service-just-5-400-submissions.html

alman's social bookmarking links are hands down the best and the cheapest around. This is actually coming from a guy who detested backlink building. Now I'm a fan of it. Get his platinum pack for your site as the final step and watch the magic happen!
