Greetings from Detroit

Hello all,
I'm a lurker turned poster. Been mostly lurking here, done some reading at WF as well.

Started a reseller agency site, trying to expand it now. Have picked up a few gigs off networking/craigslist, and recently bought my first local niche domain name, to try to monetize.

I work in automotive advertising in my day job, in digital strategy. I do large scale media negotiations with agencies, but the bulk of what I am considered to be good at is PPC (google/yahoo/bing) haven't tried any others yet

I'm a car junkie turned marketing guy. Hate the cold weather, love the outdoors. Looking forward to engaging with you all.

Question - is detroit really as it is shown in the movie 8 mile ? just curious

Good question YMCMB, Yes and No.

there are extremely poor areas. The movie 8 mile was filmed in detroit. The majority of those places were in actuality without sets. Some were old clubs reopened for the movie.

I bought my first house when I was in college, in a suburb of detroit, for 20k cash. that was around 2012 so the failed market helped as well. You can buy houses in the poorest areas for $500, and the crime is pretty serious in those areas as well. However, there are some beautiful areas in whats called "metro detroit", which is the tri-county DMA and also home of some of the wealthiest people in North America
