It is hard to cash out stolen funds, takes many sacrifices.
And just because someone is a "hacker" does not mean they are not socially handycapped, in fact, they often are.
Handling computers is one thing, and even there, all it takes is one mistake, but hacking often involves social elements, calling people, sending emails etc.
It is not greed, if greed is what makes people trip up then they are plain idiots. If you have not come to terms with greed being dumb, then you should stop right there and rethink many things.
