What are some great white hat-ish link building techniques? It seems there aren't much out there anymore that wont get you slapped by G. If anyone can provide a nice bulleted list, that would be great.

"White Hat Link Building" is an oxymoron. That's like asking whats the healthiest way to eat a fried chicken stuffed with nacho cheese.

WELL, if you fried the chicken in coconut oil, raised and killed the chicken and made the cheese yourself, from the cow you own, it would actually be pretty healthy.

The greatest white hat link building technique is natural links from other websites due to interesting content. But it's the most expensive way :)

Will a numbered list not suffice? The only way to be sure you won't get any penalties is to not build any links at all and hand out business cards at a traffic light instead.

    You need 2 things OP.

    1. White Hat
    2. SEO (search engine optimizer)

Procedure: Mix them both at 100 Degree and here you go with white hat seo techniques.

Read the forum before you post.

Your continual referral to list still tells me that you are still leaving in the past and not willing to upgrade.

True white hat doesn't exist except if you want to be like Fiverr, eBay, Amazon and the likes that uses and only rely on paid traffic.

However, there are still quality SEO that defy all update such as:

    1. Contextual backlinks
    2. Quality content not stupid crapped article or auto whatever
    3. Relevant backlinks which ofcourse comes from related content.
    4. Quality links mainly from authority links
    5. Low OBL

So all links from one site to another are black hat? What are you talking about?

Networking is the best way to build natural links.

Some of the white hat link building technique which is effective for ranking are:-

Writing quality content which helps to drive natural incoming links to your site.
Sharing the articles with social medias.
Submitting the articles to article directory.
    Submitting press releases.
    Submitting website to website directory.
Adding more pages to the site.

This is what I like about this forum. You can get some very useful comments and some very idiotic ones. What I was trying to get at was a list of the "type" of links available. Now of course the quality depends on how you use them.

Personally, I feel there are very few ways to get links. Guest posts, blog comments, press releases and so on. Just doing any one of these repeatedly would be foolish, so I'm trying to find different links to create a more natural looking backlink profile.

Whitehat links. or rather links that Google doesn't seem to mind right now.

Links related to your website subject.
    Links related to your location.
PAD links from quality software directories.
Links from pod cast sites where content is made available.
Link from document sharing websites where content is made available.
Links from image sharing sites where content is made available.
Links from video sharing sites where content is made available.
    Resource links from Wikipedia.
Contextual links from sites related to your business or location.
Links from suppliers and business associates.
Contribution links from charities. (Search for "sponsor us" and pick high value sites to support, especially if they are related to your niche. Sponsoring a "Gro your MO" website makes sense if your site is about prostate cancer.)
Social Media sites that share your information will result in some links.
Profile links from social media sites you rally use (Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook comes to mind here)

Some link bait that seems to be working:

    Infographics, if they're well done

Software related to the niche for PAD submissions.

Top 10 posts. infographics, or lists.
If you have a sewing machine site, list the 10 best sewing machine sites for your readers, sent these sites a notice that they have been chosen, many times they will link to your post to publicize the fact.)

    Surveys

Articles published on other authority websites.
This is contextual links, but do not think only blogs here. If you have an eco friendly product, write an article casually mentioning it along with a few other products ("the top 5 products for reducing household waste" or something) and submit it to an ecology themed site. Often they will print it.

I am not sharing the exact method, but occasionally you can find pages on the web that let you resister to post on someone else's network. Many times these are .edu domains. Find these pages, register as a contributor, and you can post to the .edu site setting up your on contextual links in your postings. I never post more than a 3 to one ratio of SEO posts in these cases, they will remove the account if anyone complains.

I am not sharing the way to find these, so don't ask. I don't want to ruin a good resource. It's there if you can ferret them out.

Keep in mind that any link you build today may have to be disavowed in the future.

Last little bit: Ads are links too. Contact smaller but mid PR websites and offer a token amount for a one year text ad on the home page. Insist on do follow.

I have a PR 5 tech site and I sell ads at the bottom of the home page for $30 a month. I show only 3 ads, and they say something like "XXX is sponsored by XXX".

Before I knew their value, I sold them for $25 a year.

I am a published futures and forex trader...I've have built a list of over 20k for trading. All opt-in. outside of my private trading chat room. I haven't figured out how to monetize the list. Fairly new to internet marketing and list building. Interested in learning more about monetizing the list as well as putting something together to continuously build the list.

It doesnt exist, all links can get you penalized, even if you have not built them yourself.
