There's no real shortcuts, you may get lucky and find a good converting program randomly but if I was you I would spend a little time pulling together x amount of offers to promote (either using spy tools to see what others are running or just pulling together say 5 similar ones at random) and then decide on a traffic source, run a split test similar traffic to each program and see what the results are, what converts and then concentrate on that. Different sources will convert different programs you just have to spend the time and a little $ getting the data. Before you look into automation do some manual tests and get the data with it you can then automate away and scale up but you will always need to keep a manual check on things as it can change just like that.
On cams I would highly recommend going rev share, takes a little time to see $ come in but it lasts for years to come - no joke I have cams income between 2 - 4k + a month still coming through after 3 years of not promoting it, if I did PPS on that back in the day I'd have lost literally 10s of thousands of $$ over the years..
