Gray HTTPS in search bar

So recently 2 or 3 days I've noticed that the Https in my Urls are Gray NOT green Example

Https:/ Example . Com/

Instead of ...

Https:/ Example . Com/

I submitted a ticket to my Host and here's the response...

"Please note that we have checked all of your websites and they are fully secure.

In case you are currently using Google Chrome's newest version, please note that after the latest update the padlock next to the domain is no longer green but gray.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again, if we can be of any further assistance.

Our team is 24/7 at your immediate disposal!

Best Regards,"

My question is has this happened to ppl here reading this thread and does that "VISUALLY" effect CTR???
The average shopper knows nothing about G updates and might exit the site at the thought "NOT SECURE" ???

This is not normal. It is happening most probably due to one or multiple resources in your page which are loaded via http. For example some image, or script or stylesheet. It could be something else too but 99% times that's the culprit.

To debug this, inspect element, go to the network tab and see what is loading via http.

This is by design, the long-term plan is to eliminate the padlock altogether.

Their saying (Hosting company) it's NOT a error it's due to Googles latest update.
My sites are secure just G did away with the GREEN Https.

Does this effect the click thru rate of the average user who see's a grey Https instead of Green?

Hmm as I see now (Firefox still shows green padlock nevertheless), yepp that seems to be the case as @Stavro pointed out too. I stand corrected. I was not aware of this recent update.

So I just noticed that on Mobile phones the Green Https works but on Desktop ALL the sites have grey Https.
This is a kick in the ass, The clueless average shopper isn't aware of why this is happening and might believe the website is NOT secure and exit.
Either G has to notify users of this change or we need to start sticking "Secured" badges all over or sites.

Is this something you've seen personally since the update? Do your server logs show a higher bounce rate for visitors using Chrome 69+ compared to those still on 67, Firefox, Edge, etc?

Update was 2 days ago, too early to say.

This update was in September with v69, and the current version is v71. It was just your particular browser that updated two days ago.

If you check your server logs, you should be able to cross reference the bounce rates to the browser versions.

My uneducated assumption would be yes, until users get accustomed to it and then business as usual.

Yes but the particular website I'm concerned about is only 4 days old with 400+ freshly G indexed pages.
Hence my initial concern as to why the grey "Https" and not green began in the first place.
