Get some software like photoshop or illustrator, then either pay for an online course or watch some YouTube videos and you’ll soon pick it up.

Get Adobe Illustrator and watch as many tutorials as you can abou it. There are a bunch in youtube for free and also many other free resources just run a simple google search.

I personally use Photoshop but I am trying to transition over to illustrator because its better I'm the logo/web design field. I learned Photoshop trough YouTube and udemy course's. Also take challenges like Daily UI etc, have fun!

if you want a free version of photoshop then Gimp will be the best. Anything you can do with photoshop you can do with Gimp and it's free. you can even edit photoshop files

go with illustrator. after a couple month training start with a place like 99designs. That way you can develop your skills further!

Check the tutorials on Youtube and try to reproduce what they show on them. Do not stop at learning one thing, just try to understand many techniques. After some time, ideas for the original work will come to your mind.

Get Photoshop and start with in since you want to play with layers as well. Then get into Illustrator. May feel a bit complicated. Always ask your questions on youtube or google. You will definitely find your answers straight away. Good Luck! =)

Youtube tutorials, if you can't get it, pay a designer (look for freelancers and the such, so you don't overpay)

Go on YouTube and check out some Illustrator tutorials. There are plenty of informational videos you can learn color theory from. My brother is a graphic designer, and he went to school for it, but I think he actually learned most of what he knows from YouTube. You can also start observing other brands' logos to try to figure out what works and what doesn't.

As others have said, Adobe Illustrator is by far the best; however, you want to also have Photoshop at your disposal. Ideally, Adobe Illustrator is better for "creating" (to put it in laymen terms), whereas Photoshop is more for editing what has already been created (especially pictures).
