Got Spammy Backlink Attack on one of my website, Help please

The website is about super visa insurance and my competitor did some serious black hat tactics and created 10K backlinks overnight, got my site to lose position of potential keywords, and I have used the disavow tool.

Could anyone help me to do the same with my competitor and also how can I protect myself from these in future?

Disavow is the only option hope you have submitted all badlinks
 
You did everything right, disavow and continue working. Fingers crossed you gain rankings back.

your next move should be aiming to gain as much authority as you can,
with this, such links will become less & less harmless,

stick to monitoring & disavoing links as well,
seo is a long term process that takes some efforts overtime, it's just part of it

I believe such bh stuff is not allowed in the forum,
even if it's, it's less likely someone would be helping with this (hopefuly),

doing the same for the competitor (you're not even quiet sure he's behind the attack) won't solve the problem,
you can get more competitors doing the exact same after a while, it's an endless loop

As advised, disavow the spam backlinks. You can build more quality links from relevant authority sites and keep your website updated with quality articles.
 
Did you have only one rival? Are you sure one specific person did it?

Hope you short listed all the back links that from having low metrics and irrelevant content to submit disavow, stop adding new article for a while and continue on checking the link profile will get back normal soon!

Don't try to do like them rather focus on making your website better with good stuff, so they can't mess with you again
 
Keep building better links than your competitors, and disavow the spam backlinks whenever you find them.
 
Download your list from google search console and check with semrush, moz or ahrefs, finally go with disavow which shows spammy domains.
 
Disavow is the only solution to your question, figure out spammy domains and disavow them. Wait for some time, your keywords will be back on track.
