Got my first virus today

I got my first virus on my main pc,and lost nearly 6.0GB of seo tools,guides etc. IDK how I got it when i downloaded Microsoft's free security suite. I got avg now,so hopefully it won't happen again. The only good thing is that most of the files are on the download section of this site:D

Dude, your antivirus sux :). I can help you on skype to make "nasa computer" from your computer :D.
 
Any virus can be fix with right antivirus :). You just need experience with that, Anyway, contact me, I will help you in future :).
 
Use one of the following:

Avira
NOD32
Avast

AVG sucks to be honest. Just make sure you select one of the above them use it in conjunction with Malwarebytes or something :)
 
Spybot & Malwarebytes is also a must except the AV program u are running.

So think about that next time, and u will be good.
Also, whatever virus u have, always search on it on google, if u finds out what it is called. Then u might find a "fix" or "removal kit" for it..
 
hopefully you'll keep all your important stuff on a flash drive from now on.

Its always handy to buy a windows boot cd from ebay because they are what PC technicians use + You can remove the virus from BIOS using that CD.

lol you didn't have to wipe your entire hard drive.
you could've just plugged it into another computer as an external and ran a virus removal tool from there.
even if you did delete everything, you can probably still run a file recovery tool on it, followed by a virus scan.
 
Thanks for the advice. I'm not going to use Microsoft's security software anymore since that was the av i was using when i got the virus, not avg
 
I regularly back up my important files, offcourse all the courses downloaded from here. coz we dont know when the system will crash.

Ah, I remember my first virus. I was 14, I was trying to download porn in a fake website. Then I told my parents that maybe it was because they always open email chains. xD
 
Yeah, that happened to me too few days ago...lost some CPA accounts with over $500 balance. Lost about $300 from paypal too, but started a dispute and recovered them.

I used in the past Avira + Malwarebytes and they were the freakin' best... but last week I reinstalled my OS so I forgot to install an antivirus lol.


So you should go with Avira and Malwarebytes and if you download much stuff , get Sandboxie too, as redmoon said.
 
I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials for a year now and haven't got a virus since :)
