Hey guys I wanted to give you all some motivation.

Like everyone says, TAKE ACTION!!!

You can see from my join date that I haven't been on BHW long and this is precisely when I started to learn a little bit about IM.

Truth be told I likely have been an IM'r at heart for a long time.

Almost 10 years ago I registered a domain name and started building my very 1st website. I was doing it for fun regarding a topic I enjoyed. 6 months later I was contacted by an individual who was interested in the domain, the offer?

$10,000!!

So I sold it. :) Since I was making over $100K per year as a restaurant manager I never though twice about IM as I was just building the site for fun. It never occurred to me to scale up and continue.

Fast forward to this year, I became a DM for a Gold Buying Company. Due to competition and HUGE corporate overhead we were not able to compete with the smaller Gold Buyers, so even though I literally doubled sales in a year (they had a DM before me) a few stores were not showing profit. As a result they terminated the Corp Ops manager, the Regional Director and of course me too. Anyway screw them! They closed 4 of the 7 stores I left, the only ones that remain are the ones I made profitable prior to my departure.

So here I was in need of work, so I immediately went back to work with my family who own a restaurant but it's not really what I want.

Another thing I did was use some money I could ill afford to spend to start an online biz and I was amazed that all my FB friends would not immediately start buying from me.

I thought there had to be another way.

Enter BHW.....

I am not even sure how I found this site but I did. From the beginning I started dividing time trying to maintain the site and learn about SEO.
Eventually the money started drying up so I had to put my site on the back burner but kept on learning.

I took the plunge and started building cheap wordpress sites and doing SEO on those. Lo and Behold I started getting 1st page rankings. Next thing you know I started talking about my success on Facebook and I got an email last week from a guy that is redoing his site as we speak. He asked me about SEO I told him I could do it.

Tonight he paid me via paypal to get started even before his site is complete!

Anyway, I wanted to thank all the helpful people at BHW and Taktical for his helpful thread and resources which showed me the way!

The best news is this one was a warm lead, I have a really smoking HOT lead for a client who wants to rank for a term that I already have ranked.

If I get that gig I will post how I did it. It is easy and it works.

SO BHW THANK YOU FOR MY 1st CLIENT!!

I tried to upload the PayPal image but for some reason it failed so here it is in pagebin: http://pagebin.com/posted.php?pid=Vcgnlmcs

it is set to expire in a month but I wanted everyone to see the proof. I even wrote a little note so you could see it was me. :)

Before you say become a donor, I intend to. I will either do it on his 2nd payment or if I land this 2nd client next week!!!!

(PS, some BHW members are going to get some work because of this, I am going to spread the love)

Awesome man, Congrats! I too am looking into using my skills to bring in the money.

Congrats Getwhatchuwant :) . Glad that it came to fruition ... that's impressive though for your first deal to close a $1,200 a month gig.

Shows though that you need to take action ... such as hooking up with a reliable drop shipper and dominating a specific e-commerce niche ;).

We are gonna kill it my man. I have the one hot lead set for next week, another lead from a guy who has a one of a kind product for the state and the only one that has it and I found out tonight that one of my wifes relatives has a company (2 to be exact)related to programming etc... that has an MIT fellowship, so I am going to see if he wants to create the ultimate social and SEO bot.

Also the client I signed tonight is also partners in another venture similar to IRA/Tax Advisory firm so independent financial advisors have to clear all trades through an entity like an IRA(for fee based services) or a Broker Dealer (for transaction based services). Anyway his intent is to see how I do for HIS site and if it works well he wants to white-label my service and then offer it to his reps. :)

Anyway, as soon as I get everything straight, the sky is the limit!

wow thats awesome :)

so, are you working on the rent-a-site model, or you are working based on clients needs, ie after you agree a deal with them?

Congrats man. Landing clients feels good, doesn't it?

I'm always a bit in a split... Do I want clients (and start an agency) or do I want my own websites.

This customer was simply a facebook friend that happened to read one of my posts. I did the same thing guys do here prior to a BST, I offered a service free to 5 people. Funny thing, he wasnt one of the 5 I gave the freebie to.

We started talking via email and phone last week and last night I closed the deal.

The other customer who I plan to land this coming week, I actually found a KW ranked a site on page 1 for the KW and sent out about 30 emails. 3 companies replied and one of them is pretty hot and heavy, another showed alot of interest but wants to wait until the end of the 1st quarter next year.

Also since I already have the site ranked, once I land my client I will not do SEO work for the same term for a different client however I am considering renting out ad space on my existing ranking site to companies interested and also possibly turning it into a lead generation site to boot.

So for example lets say my niche is Car insurance Los Angeles, I went ahead and created a site got it to page 1. Sent out 30 emails to Car Insurance agencies in Los Angeles titled "Would you like to rank on page 1 of Google for the term Car Insurance, Los Angeles? I have already done it!!"

Inside I give the a link to the site and also offer to SEO their site for the term. Now once I land my SEO client I am thinking about monetizing the site by going back to the other guys and explaining my offer is closed due to acquiring a client BUT if they would still like a page 1 presence that for a small monthly fee I would place an advertisement on the site.

Then I am also considering converting it to a lead capture page somehow and as I get emails collected somehow selling those leads to one of the companies in the niche. So I am planning to milk the hell out of the site. I guess that is the restaurant/retail manager in me trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents.

Congrats! Landing clients is the hardest part of the offline game (in my opinion). If I were you I would start to find a good prospecting system that you liked.

Have a good one.

Let us know how that works out :)

Hit a snag with that one. He (the guy spending the $$)was supposed to have a meeting with his 2 (working) partners to discuss the viability of SEO expense but one of his partners told me yesterday his mother had a heart attack and he was out of town.

Anyway I hope all is well with his mother, tough way to start the new year.

Good for you buddy! :) hope to get a client who pays that much.
