Got Listed in Dmoz!! Does it matter?

So you got approved by DMOZ inside 2 weeks? Thats great as mostly they take a minimum of 1-2 months. Your link is probably not indexed yet hence SEO tools are not showing it. Once it gets indexed it will not only show but you will also have a slight ranking boost, DMOZ is still the authority directory

DMOZ doesnt hold any greater value now than without being indexed by DMOZ, its still a high authority link however, but what you used to get up until mid last year was quite a nice bump, this doesnt happen now.
Oh for also people still wanting to get into DMOZ, follow these simple guides
1. Request to be an author on some very low popularity categories
2. Keep trying and requesting
3. Get accepted as an author
4. Submit your site to that category you are set as an author for and accept
5. Watch your ranking position not change.

DMOZ link exactly equal for any kind of other link. DMOZ is a history.
Thanks for your answers guys! I was just focusing on niche that is actually country specific and not global! I am starting to get a very good response in just 2 weeks as I have already reached page 2. I am aiming for about $500/Day of earnings when i reach page 1.
I found out about a business that is in high demand and the competitors don't have enough SEO knowledge to actually get on the top. There are plenty of websites but I think I can be on the top in no time (thanks to BHW). Wrote a couple of good articles on high pr websites but they got bumped by G. Lets see how it goes!

I am a Dmoz editor...a real niche specific topic, so don't bother asking for help getting approved. It really depends on what Cat you are submitting to. Some have active editors and they are easy to get into. Others are very hard to get into. Make sure you submit to the most relevant cat for your site, and it's really important that you write a good description that uses full sentences, and is descriptive of the content on your site and is in no way self promoting....i.e. Don't write...Best source of news in niche....Write: Niche news articles and blog, covering mostly niche keyword.
If you don't get approved after 3 months and you have a good site for that topic, try applying to be an editor. It's possible there is just no-one to approve your site.

I send all my link to Dmoz, it is really good. But you will still need more backlinks. Not everyone get listed in Dmoz.

Yeah I am a DMOZ editor too (don't ask I won't help you get a link. Become an editor yourself you lazy bastards).
You simply do not know what you are talking about. The value of a link from anywhere depends on your anchor text. If your anchor text is bad, as it is for 99.9% of the links at DMOZ, then it has little value. If you have the right anchor you will see a big boost.
Further more while DMOZ may be a trusted domain, but what is the most trusted domain in the world?

Ivictus - is giving good advice on this one. I too was an editor for a couple of years and the most benefit from a listing in DMOZ comes from the proliferation of your link to the many thousands of scraper sites and high PR authortive sites that utlise the DMOZ directory for all or part of their site data. So - its not simply the lone DMOZ link which is valuable it's the many thousands of additional links you will obtain from sources utilised by their data.
I didnt know this info!! Good to know that getting into dmoz will actually help me!
