Got an offer for a SEO/Linkbuilding associate

I've been primarily just working on my websites and reading less and less, but the offline/hybrid topic really interested me.

I started reading books like how to get to VITO and other offline resources when indirectly, while searching for a part-time job, I typed in SEO. Wow! This truly is an emerging field. Companies are even willing to partner with you if you impress them enough.

Anyway, I didn't really take it serious until a company posted profit-sharing and that they would train you in marketing, generating leads, etc...

I figured what better way to get training than work for a company for a a bit and see how they really do business..

This is good stuff....

Yup - I was a software tester for a insurance firm, I over heard them having a argument about the SEO agency and they wanted to see what they were doing! I happened to do SEO as a sideline so I ran a few reports on my lunch break(thank god for remote pcs).............Bang I'm in charge of the SEO for all of our company sites!

From that I am able to get the right software on my home PC as well(yes im allowed) and I am getting corporate experience!

The downside is that people in the office dont get SEO, plus I get a bit obsessed with the SERPS

Not anymore, they only had one position open. I've never interviewed for a SEO position before and was amazed at how much knowledge I've learned since I started this in early 2010. I was initially a tad anxious if I was ready for this, but I guess I was. In fact after the interview, I felt that in some areas, I knew more than they did.

I was able to answer all their questions, we spoke the same language...in fact, I think they refrained from asking more questions because I was able to communicate and use the words they were looking for.

I also asked the right question and even pointed out their current page rank (did some research prior to the interview).

The crazy thing is...they guarantee first page results so I asked them what their success rate was - they stated 100%

I'm hoping to learn from this, I'm not doing it for the money, but for the knowledge because I can earn much, much more with my actual profession.

The key is targeting keywords that are much easier to rank on the first page.
