    If you had a fairly-decent (2.4ghz cpu, halfGB RAM, 80GB HDD - not stellar, just pretty good) that was only going to be used only intermittently by another household member, what would you do with it?

    My mind is already reeling from some of the options:
    in-home server and hardware-based firewall for the rest of the WAN;
    proxy server;
    dedicated comment blaster;

    Any thoughts? I need to wipe the hard drive (long story short - it's a hand-me-down from someone who surfed a LOT of porn, I cleaned off six trojan horses and some malware before the security apps started locking up on it yesterday) any way, I'm thinking of installing Linux, then VMWare and putting a nice layer of win-craptacularity on top of it.

    LMAO, i got a few spare 3Ghz core2quad's hanging about, the best thing to do with these is install ESXi and use them to test shit you download, etc. 1 VM per piece of software / project, incase of emergency delete vm. Makes management easier and malware etc is no problem :p
