Got an Email from MPAA

I have tv site that gets about 1k/hits a day and I got an email from MPAA today. Anyone ever got one? My domain is blocked Domains by proxy Inc, but it says if i dont reply by the 15th they can disclose my info. This sucks but i plan to take all links to megavideo/etc from the site this weekend. And leave the site up with the posts but with no links. Maybe leading to a product or something.

Why be involved with copyright infringement, its no joke bro, your talking years in jail.
 
i never got one from MPAA good luck with that. My only advise to give is to comply. esp the way things have been going these days
 
What shows did they point out? We get a number of requests like this (I run a web hosting co), and they have to point to the offending content. If you remove that, then they have no reason to harrass you. Usually it will be one company, and they are going after only Gossip Girl etc, and so you just remove that show and move on. If it is movies, usually they will list 1 or 2 movies (Usually out of thousands on the site), remove them and your golden.
 
Linking to a product or trial offer is a solid option.
There are some good ones there.

What concerns me is a notice for a 1k users per day. Can you tell we how are you promoting the site?

Absolutely comply, take the site down if necessary, move to a more anonymous system.

Absolutely DON'T make any kind of admission of guilt and especially don't admit to uploading or distributing any copyrighted material. Say that the site was user generated content that you didn't monitor and you are thus protected under the DMCA safe harbour clause.
 
You should try to bring your current traffic to another site preferably offshore. Not sure how you'd do this without getting the company sending you the letter but this is what I did during DMCA with MMORPG private servers and works every time.
 
1k/hits a day is nothing. Dump all the links and convert everything over to some netflix affiliate ads or something lol.

Also personally I would avoid the whole spreading copyrighted material thing.
 
Don't register with a Godaddy owned privacy company.

Go offshore for hosting and domain privacy as godaddy can snatch your domain in a second.
