I got a letter in the mail today, along with a check from a class action lawsuit against EBay:

Dear Class Member,

As described in the notice sent to you regarding Brice Yingling d/b/a Alamo Autto Sports and Andy Scott vs. eBay, Inc., Case No. C-09-01733 (the "Lawsuit"), via email and/or postcard in January 2011, below please find your pro rata distribution from the Net Settlement Fund. Payment was calculated based on Final Value Fees you paid between April 21, 2005 and August 26, 2009 (the "Class Period"), for non-store inventory format items sold in the parts and accessories catagories on eBay Motors. Additional details about the Lawsuit and the method of calculating your payment are available on the case website, www.ebaymotorsfeeclassaction.com

The check below is made payable to the name on file with eBay for your username _______. Check is drawn from JPMorganChase Bank, N.A.

Now, I'm wondering what I'm going to do with this whopping check for....

$3.14

Easy Street, here I come.......

:beach2:

I just got one as well. Mine was actually $113. They have fucced me for way more I am sure... But still cool to get money you were not expecting to ever see..

What are we missing? You filed a lawsuit against eBay and you won it and received $3.14. What about the legal fees you incurred?

Did anyone else think of "Pi" when seeing the value of his check?

Not until you mentioned it. As an aside, I grew up in northern Missouri, and the way I remembered Pi in math class was, 314 was the area code for northern Missouri

JPMorganChase, lol seriously?

Seriously. I did some checking, and it seems it is legit. It equates to a 6.6% refund on Final Value Fees on a motorcycle part I sold back in '08.

I'm not complaining. I gave EBay enough money, its kinda nice to get some back from those thieves. Even if it is only $3.14.

No, I just got included in a Class-Action suit someone else filed.

All in all, EBay had to pony up $30 million.

Actually the checks were alll $10000 and above. But first the lawyers had to get paid.

Fuck ebay and Meg Whitman was better

Dont spend all tht money in one place now yahere ;)

i got a whopping $1.08. Not gonna cash it though since it was on a stealth account.

WOW - that must have hurt ebay! They are not exactly getting a lot of great press lately....and the admin costs of that - lawyers...even just paying someone to post out hundreds of thousands of cheques for $1-$2. In saying that ebay are still probably smiling...as they know most people wont bother to lodge a cheque for a $1 or $2 - it will just sit in their 'to do' pile until it expires....ah well - no cheque for me anyway!! :o
