    Hey there,

Well I get my CPALead payment on Sunday so I want to drop $200 on SEO to get my site watchgossipgirl dot com up to No.1 on Google. Currently it's sitting around 4th-6th in Google.

The new episode is screening on the 16th so hopefully I want to be up their by then.

I was thinking of hiring someone to do some blog commenting but I dunno if that's the best way to get my site up in google.

I'm thinking of getting a backlink on Wallpaperstock (FYI I talked to the dude and he can make my link ******** instead of all the other links which are Nofollow)

So if anyone can recommend me a good way to get me up in Google I would really appreciate it.

    Cheers,

One of the things I have done recently is to move my domians off shared IPs.

Most hosts will allow you a dedicated IP for an extra $2-5 a month. If you have a lot of domians you can get packages from places like seohosting which is owned by hostgator. They make sure your C-Class is different than your other sites. From what i understand, the C-class is the 3rd part of your IP.

    For example...

    111.222.333.444

They make sure every site has a different 333

Let me explain how this has helped me.

First I have one main site I want to get traffic to. And when people search, I want that to come up. So I put that on its on IP. If you are on a shared plan, there are likely 1500 other sites on your IP, many of which are likely porn, spamming, etc

Within days of that change, my site jumped several spots on the google rank.

I also have 5 blogs that have different themes. they all have different unique content (I pay someone to write one post per week, usually $5 per post) In the middle of all those posts, I have a post about my main site referenced above. These blogs have no other purpose - they were built to looks like normal people - and they have one slightly positive review of my main site.

Each of these 5 blogs have a unique IP, so they are ranking high in google.

After about a week, when you type in certain key terms, my main site comes up #1, followed by my 5 blogs.

There is debate on this topic, but I believe, in my case, paying the extra $2 per site for unique IPs has been the single best SEO technique I have ever done.

    Now you have $198 left.

If I were you, I would shoot for things that are free before you find something to spend money on. Google might like it if you have a nav bar somewhere on your blog. All the other listings seem to have one for "episodes". Also, why not try promoting your site with some of Howie's methods?

    Just a suggestion...

Awesome idea! The only problem though is that I'm hosted on my mates servers and he does have a whole lot of spare ip's but their not Class C. Though I do know the dude that runs the DC, so I'll get in contact with him.
    Cheers for the idea though.

Yea I've been doing a lot of free promotion, the problem is with school (I'm only 16) I don't have a lot of time to promote and its usually more convient for me to pay someone else to do so. Also for the new site I'm setting it up at beta.watchgossipgirl.com so I should have a nice nav bar there :)
Cheers for the advice as well!

the problem with this setup matey is that you can never guarantee top spots in Google. I have a few hundreds of sites that hit number 1 but there are still tons of sites in the hundreds still that stay stuck in the middle,4,5,6 or second page for no apparent reason.

It is a mystery, you should be very happy that your are in the top 10. try as you might some KW are a tough ass to crack.

my own 2 cents on this

Thanks for the advice. About a year ago I was first in Google and got nearly 1million (no kidding) visitors over a period of a month. So this keyword is valuable.

Like imagine if I put Zango on and 10% of them signed up. Thats $100k (though it wouldn't be likely)

I think I have a really good chance at getting to first.

The first 2 results have lost all their backlinks to google so their going to go down reasonbly soon. Only 2 weeks ago my site wasn't even on the front page and now it's hanging around 3rd-4th in Google. I'm quite happy about that but I'm sure I can get to first place.

I'm looking at getting a class C ip address and I have lined up some links at 2 pr4 sites so I'm just hoping my site will get up to the front page.

Sounds like you are set up for success. Like I said, I have heard people argue about how much the C class makes a difference, but for me it has been huge. I knwo you are on a friends hosting, but for $4.95/mo on HG plus $2 for dedicated Ip, you will see results. Or find someone with a seohosting account they may let you use a c ip address of theirs for a few bucks...i know my package is about $6 per c ip.

Lol, I'm doing exactly that right now. I'm just about to flick a email off to the DC manager and see If I can get one but I might have to get a hostgator account instead.

I have to say I love HG. I don't have experience iwth many hosting companies, but i love that they are there 24/7. Friendly, and fast at fixing issues.

Plus - you can get $125 per hosting account you refer to them. They are my favorite anyway, but the're affiliate commission are crazy

I could suggest right off the bat some things that would help. The title of your pages, for instance. Right now the title of your main page is simply "Watch Gossip Girl Online" where it should be something more along the lines of "WatchGossipGirl.com - Gossip Girl episodes, news and rumors". You want your keywords in the title, especially on the main page. Sub-pages would have titles like "Gossip Girl episodes - WatchGossipGirl.com".

I could elaborate but I'd end up writing an entire eBook. Look into SEO techniques as far as your META tags are concerned and how they relate your content. They're the very basic thing you could do for your site to make it search engine friendly.

If you're running Wordpress, check out the All In One SEO pack.

    @laserblast is right, your Titles are VERY important to your on-page content and your SERPS (search engine results/ranking page stats)... I would just change or add one thing to that;

I would put the domain at the END of the Title and only on a couple pages... the first words are key, and your domain is already known and landed on by this time. The subpages can be really optimized for episode issues.. .i.e.,

"Gossip Girls Episode Three (3), Season Two (2) | Lucy gets Lucky | 2008 Series"

Be sure you use these same terms in the first opening sentences of your content, tie in an image with a related image tag, and link to it from any websites/blogs/forums you have, using similar anchor text per link, per page.

One great thing you have once you reach the first page is... You have 3 or 4 sites above you - PICK THEM APART - Not just their links, but their Titles, their content, their age, their traffic, and other hubs they belong to in that topic... You can learn a great deal by looking at the guys above you once you get to the first page.

Congratulations, BTW - A job well done to get to page one on a competitive keyword! This pays dividends.

So far, none of this has cost you your $200 - It does however require a bit of your time and attention to detail.

Thanks mate. I will take this into consideration and I've made some adjustments already. I'm using Platnium SEO to make the changes but hopefully I will optimize individual pages as well :)

Once again, thanks guys for your comments! I really appreciate it.

There is so much "so so" seo advice in this thread it's crazy.

I would offer you my services but waiting on a mod to approve me.
There are 1-2 on pages changes that will boost you up soon as your site is reindexed.

    1. remove the "online" from your title. the more charaters that are no your keyword the worst.

    2. rewrite that description include your keyword at least 2 times in your description.

    3. increase the keyword density on page for the word watch, gossip and girl to at least 2%

Don't worry about the IP thing, never in all my years have a seen any evidence it helps or hinders.. Heck i was in the top #5 for "SEO" on Google using a shared IP with about 500 other sites.

Focus on backlinks, to both your internal pages and you homepage with a few variations of your main phrases. It sounds like you have OK on-page for your current rank, so some solid links will help give you the push up those few spots.

Actually i wouldn't mess with the on-page too much when the timeframe is so tight you might de-optimize it and leave no time to recover.

I agree with Sweet on this one. I have tested both private and shared IPs and have found that both work.

And right now, ranking in Google is all about backlinks and authority.

If you have decent, keyword-targeted content(don't be obsessive over keyword density; 2-5% usually is good enough. Also don't forget LSI), and have more backlinks than your competition, you will outrank them almost all of the time.

Be sure to focus on getting a variety of backlinks, vary your anchor text, and don't forget to deep link.
