Got #1 for a week, now stuck at 5-10.

After disavowing some bad linkks and removing a penguin penalty from my site, i popped to #1 for my target keywords for 2 main money pages. For a week I was in heaven, making great bank, but then i fell to #5-#10 and am stuck there.

I think this could either be:
1) the disavow link juice had a ghosting effect, and i just need more links
2) Google thought i had enough link juice, but my CTR and dwell time was bad, and i failed the split test.

The thing is, i made a custom plugin for my pages, and have tons of content, it's a lot better than the other sites in my opinion, my dwell time should be good.

What do you think can cause such a drop?

It happens pretty often. As far as I know, it's a part of RankBrain algo which moves sites to the top and checks if they are worth it. If you were pushed back to 5 then you are not good enough. Keep polishing on-page and build some good links to replace the old ones.

For how many days keywords are in 5 to 10 positions? Keep checking the positions, these changes happen to most the sites. Built better links with good authority and relevancy so you can improve your rankings.

happend to me aswell. Dont be spammy that was my problem. My traffic shrinked and my site got ranked lower...
