Google's Frequent update

Both my sites just got tanked today, all keywords down none up. Hoping they bounce back and this is just an adjustment.

probably people here won't appreciate this move (it is seo forum) but 2 weeks ago i made a decision to quit all my seo projects and move ahead with another sorts of traffic

it quite hutrs when you put your soul and money into your websites creation and then Google fucks you in your chocolate eye in a few months

what are you gonna do if they don't bounce back up?

which source? If it's a big one google is most likely behind it. If it's a small one how on Earth are you making money with such little traffic?

I'll load it with new quality content and hope they bounce back. If not, I abandon ship and start again. Already have a few new sites on the go.

yeah, that's pretty much all we can do about it :(

Seo is still one of the most powerful channels to receive high quality traffic

If you focus on making the on-page the right way and especially on getting some good links & off-page for a website, such updates wouldn't really bother as you should always get profit from this,
Even if you do drop in SERPs, it's hard to see any good website going down to the 2nd page and it will recover just with after some period or with the next update

Hate to say this but even I myself have begin doubting the future of SEO.

Think about it: with EAT, YMYL, 'product review' updates, and whatever they've come up with... Now all you see are authority websites ranking for whatever search you make. Even if you try to google for a particular health product/brand keyword, Google gives you irrelevant search results from AUTHORITY websites. This is worrying. Very worrying. They would rather give users irrelevant results from authority sites than relevant content from non-authority sites.

Also, I hate to say this too but it is like a game of roulette whenever there's an algorithm update. Your website could be favoured and have a boost in ranking this update; but the next, it could tanked to oblivion with zero traffic. It is just so random. In fact, I'm seeing old competitors' websites that tanked from last December and Pre-Valentine's updates and now they are back after so long. And new competitor site that came up recently disappeared from the SPAM and July core update. What's worse is whatever fix you do to your site don't get immediate attention from Google... You have to wait for weeks or even until the next core update to see results. And after waiting and you get tanked instead, you have to implement new fixes and WAIT again.

So what does this tell you? Google won't rank any Tom-Dick-Harry's websites anymore. They only rank authority websites. And it takes time. I mean, you can create your own authority website but it is gonna take a looooooong time with huge investments needed. And of course, a real 'expert' in the topic with credible background or qualifications (EAT). No longer are the days you can just create a site from scratch, rank it easily within weeks or months, and start banking. The days when you simply register a .com domain at namecheap for $8-10; put up articles written by non-native English writers or spun ones; and start blasting it with links... Those days are over.

As scary as it sounds, I'm imagining a future when whatever you search in Google, all you would see are results from authority websites.... And affiliate marketers have to invest huge sums in setting up an authority site or resorting to Adwords and other PPC platforms - raising its keyword bidding prices due to surge in demand. ROI will keep falling to the point that IMers will leave or find other ways to get traffic.

In essence, it will no longer be an easy subject. If you expect quick results, you can forget about it. Google is forcing us to invest time and money, literally.

There are lots of measuring Tool record a track on constant volatility in search results for both desktop and mobile. These toolsets provide data sources to analyze primary aspects of your site performance. Traffic, Ranking, and impression. Also, Google analytics and Google search console give important information that helps you determine what kind of impact is caused on your website.
If you are affected by the core update and to recover from it. Understand when the update happened? And find out what the update was and get ready for the upcoming updates. Because more updates are sure to come.

too much work for lazy bums like me. I prefer to create more autoblogs if the updates affect my sites.

A very simple answer:

Be a brand in your niche and not just another website.

I think most updates do not publish them. Only a small group of people know all the updates. I propose to make a common fund and pay these people to tell us the tips :)
