Hi,

I've just started to plan a campaign for building backlinks to my deep pages on my blog.

I went into Scrapebox and ran a Sitemap scraper to pull all the URLs for my blog.

When I started to look at the URLs to sort them into category groups they appear to not be in the correct format:

They should be in this format: hxxp://www.homepage.com/category/post

However....

They appear to be in this format: hxxp://www.homepage.com/post

I then went to my /sitemap.xml link for my blog to find all the urls were in this incorrect format, when I click on any of the links all I get is a 404 error page.

I can't see why this has happened and not sure how to correct it, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Stu.

You probably incorrectly changed the permalinks structure on wp-admin

I'm using a custom structure of:

/%category%/%postname%/

OK I've just manually clicked on the "rebuild the sitemap" link in the G-XML-SM-G admin area inside wordpress and all the links seem to be back to how they should be.

I'd be interested to know what caused this to happen. It said the last sitemap was built about 3 hours ago and this is where the errors came from.

AFAIK The automatic sitemap creation just happens when new content its added not when the code, options etc are changed

Anyways im glad its working fine now ;)

Just annoying when stuff like this happens... I don't know how long this has been like this for either.

Thanks anyway
